Abstract
Beverage container lids and methods for manufacturing beverage container lids are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a beverage container lid includes a body and a medium member coupled to the body. The body includes a support surface and an opening for fluid passage. The medium member includes a first surface juxtaposed and coupled to the support surface, a second surface opposite the first surface, and indicia on the first and/or second surface. The medium member can include a first portion coupled to the support surface of the body and a second portion removably coupled to the first portion. The indicia can include a thermally responsive and/or photo-responsive material.
Claims

a thin, flexible body including a snap-fit retainer configured to engage a lip of a container, an opening through which a fluid can flow, and a support surface; and an information member including a first surface juxtaposed and coupled to the support surface, a second surface opposite the first surface, and indicia on the first and/or second surface.
2 . The beverage container lid of claim 1 wherein the information member includes a first portion coupled to the support surface of the body and a second portion removably coupled to the first portion.
3 . The beverage container lid of claim 1 wherein the information member does not include an aperture.
4 . The beverage container lid of claim 1 wherein the indicia comprise a thermally responsive material.
5 . The beverage container lid of claim 1 wherein the indicia comprise a photo-responsive material.

a receiver carried by the body and/or the information member, the receiver configured to receive signals from a wireless network; wherein the information member further includes a display operably coupled to the receiver.
7 . The beverage container lid of claim 1 , further comprising:
a receiver carried by the body and/or the information member, the receiver configured to receive signals from a wireless network; and a speaker carried by the body and/or the information member and operably coupled to the receiver.
8 . The beverage container lid of claim 1 wherein the information member comprises a detachable portion for retention apart from the container.
9 . The beverage container lid of claim 1 wherein the information member comprises a paper product affixed to the support surface.
10 . The beverage container lid of claim 1 wherein the information member comprises a plastic product affixed to the support surface.
11 . The beverage container lid of claim 1 wherein the information member is coupled to the body with an adhesive.
12 . The beverage container lid of claim 1 wherein:
the body is configured to at least generally cover an opening in an upper portion of the container; and the support surface is generally flat.
13 . The beverage container lid of claim 1 wherein the indicia comprise a plurality of lenticular elements.
14 . The beverage container lid of claim 1 , further comprising:
a consumable item carried by the information member; and a wrapper covering the consumable item.
15 . The beverage container lid of claim 1 , further comprising a hypertag configured to communicate with external electronic devices.
16 . A beverage container lid, comprising:
a body including a support surface; and a medium member separate from the body, the medium member being coupled to the support surface with an adhesive.
17 . The beverage container lid of claim 16 wherein the medium member includes a first portion coupled to the support surface of the body and a second portion removably coupled to the first portion.
18 . The beverage container lid of claim 16 wherein the medium member comprises a thermally responsive material.
19 . The beverage container lid of claim 16 wherein the medium member comprises a photo-responsive material.
20 . The beverage container lid of claim 16 , further comprising:
a receiver carried by the body and/or the medium member, the receiver configured to receive signals from a wireless network; wherein the medium member further includes a display operably coupled to the receiver.
21 . The beverage container lid of claim 16 , further comprising:
a receiver carried by the body and/or the medium member, the receiver configured to receive signals from a wireless network; and a speaker carried by the body and/or the medium member and operably coupled to the receiver.
22 . The beverage container lid of claim 16 wherein the medium member comprises a detachable portion for retention apart from the container.

28 . A beverage container lid for use with a beverage container, the lid comprising:
a body including an upper surface, an opening for fluid passage in a direction generally transverse to the upper surface, and an engagement portion configured to releasably engage an upper portion of the beverage container; and an information member attached to the upper surface, the information member being a discrete component with respect to the body.
29 . The beverage container lid of claim 28 wherein the information member includes a first portion coupled to the upper surface of the body and a second portion removably coupled to the first portion.
30 . The beverage container lid of claim 28 wherein the information member comprises a thermally responsive material.
31 . The beverage container lid of claim 28 wherein the information member comprises a photo-responsive material.
32 . The beverage container lid of claim 28 wherein the information member comprises a detachable portion for retention apart from the container.
33 . The beverage container lid of claim 28 wherein the information member comprises a paper product affixed to the support surface.
34 . The beverage container lid of claim 28 wherein the information member comprises a message including a plurality of lenticular elements.
35 . A beverage container lid, comprising:
a body including a support surface; and a consumable item removably coupled to the support surface.
36 . The beverage container lid of claim 35 wherein the consumable item comprises chewing gum.
37 . The beverage container lid of claim 35 wherein the consumable item comprises a mint.
38 . The beverage container lid of claim 35 wherein the consumable item comprises a breath freshener.
39 . The beverage container lid of claim 35 , further comprising a medium member attached to the support surface, the medium member including indicia.
40 . A method for manufacturing a beverage container lid, the method comprising:
providing a lid body having a support surface, an opening for fluid passage, and an engagement portion configured to releasably engage an upper portion of a beverage container; and coupling a first surface of a medium member to the support surface of the lid body so that the first surface of the medium member is juxtaposed to the support surface of the lid body, the medium member further including indicia.
41 . The method of claim 40 , further comprising coupling a consumable item to the lid body and/or the medium member.
42 . The method of claim 40 wherein the indicia comprise a thermally responsive material, and wherein coupling the medium member comprises attaching the medium member having the thermally responsive material to the lid body.
43 . The method of claim 40 wherein the indicia comprise a photo-responsive material, and wherein coupling the medium member comprises attaching the medium member having the photo-responsive material to the lid body.
44 . The method of claim 40 wherein the medium member comprises a first portion and a second portion removably coupled to the first portion, and wherein coupling the medium member comprises attaching the first portion of the medium member to the lid body.
45 . The method of claim 40 wherein the medium member further includes a display, and wherein the method further comprises attaching a receiver to the lid body and/or the medium member, the receiver configured to receive signals from a wireless network.
46 . The method of claim 40 , further comprising:
coupling a receiver to the lid body and/or the medium member, the receiver configured to receive signals from a wireless network; and coupling a speaker to the lid body and/or the medium member, the speaker being operably coupled to the receiver.
47 . The method of claim 40 wherein the medium member comprises a detachable portion, and wherein coupling the medium member comprises attaching the detachable portion to the lid body.
