Abstract

A method and system is provided for caching client management data in a capacity planner. Client management data is collected and cached over a selected time period. The collected data is averaged over that time period and is then transmitted to a central collection location. The client management data may be either written into cache directly or into tables contained in the cache.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 13 . (Canceled)

14 . A computer-readable medium having stored thereon a data structure comprising a data field containing averaged client management data for collecting performance monitoring data into capacity planning data.

       15 - 18 . (Canceled).

19 . A computer-readable medium according to claim 14 , wherein the averaged client management data comprises averaged client management data collected from a plurality of client machines.

20 . A computer-readable medium according to claim 19 , wherein the averaged client management data comprises averaged performance monitoring data collected from two or more of the plurality of client machines.

21 . A computer-readable medium according to claim 14 , wherein the averaged client management data comprises client management data averaged over a selected time interval.

22 . A computer-readable medium according to claim 21 , wherein the averaged client management data comprises performance monitoring data measurements collected over a first specified time interval from two or more of a plurality of client machines.

23 . A computer-readable medium according to claim 22 , wherein the selected time interval is greater than the first specified time interval.

24 . A computer-readable medium according to claim 14 , wherein the averaged client management data is storable in a cache.

25 . A computer-readable medium according to claim 24 , wherein the cache comprises at least one of a local cache associated with at least one client machine and a remote cache.

26 . A computer-readable medium according to claim 20 , wherein the averaged performance monitoring data measurements are converted into capacity planning data before the data structure is transmitted to a central collection location for capacity planning purposes.

27 . A computer-readable medium according to claim 14 , wherein the computer-readable medium comprises at least one of a magnetic medium, an optical medium and an electronic medium.
