Abstract

A number of roofing accessories, including a lightweight adjustable ladder and scaffold support are disclosed. The scaffold support is provided with a pair of rails spaced the standard spacing of most roof joists. Connected to the rails through suitable holes and slots, are rods supporting an adjustable platform. One of the rods may be placed through a corresponding slot to achieve a suitable angle of adjustment corresponding to roof incline. An apparatus is also provided for supporting loads of materials or supplies on an inclined roof, using components and parts in common with the scaffold support, or components and parts similar thereto. A tool tray is provided which may be backed with a layer of foam to prevent the tray from slipping off the roof, while allowing the tray to be freely moved along and up and down the roof, as work progresses.

1 . A lightweight adjustable ladder and scaffold support comprising: 
 a pair of rails, spaced apart by amount substantially equal to a standard roof joist spacing;    a plurality of rods, connected to the rails through suitable holes and slots;    an adjustable platform, attached to and supported by, the plurality of rods;    wherein one of the rods may be placed through a corresponding slot to achieve a suitable angle of adjustment corresponding to roof incline.    
   
   
       2 . The platform of  claim 1 , wherein the platform is provided with a number of aluminum beams drilled with suitable holes, spaced apart and shaped so as to accept the leg of a standard extension ladder or siding jack.  
   
   
       3 . The platform of  claim 2 , wherein bolts or pins are passed through the holes to secure the ladder or jack to the platform.  
   
   
       4 . The platform of  claim 3 , wherein the platform supports a scaffold walking board.  
   
   
       5 . An apparatus for supporting loads of materials or supplies on an inclined roof, comprising: 
 a pair of rails spaced apart substantially a standard spacing of roof joists;    a plurality of rods, connected to the rails through suitable holes and slots;    an adjustable platform, connected to and supported by the plurality of rods,    wherein one of the rods may be placed through a corresponding slot to achieve a suitable angle of adjustment corresponding to roof incline.    
   
   
       6 . The apparatus of  claim 5 , wherein the platform is a planar table, with one or more edge rails to prevent materials from falling off the platform.  
   
   
       7 . The apparatus of  claim 6 , wherein the platform is sized to accommodate a standard package size of shingles.  
   
   
       8 . The apparatus of  claim 6 , wherein the platform is sized to accommodate a 5-gallon water cooler.  
   
   
       9 . The apparatus of  claim 8 , wherein the apparatus is mounted to a plate which is backed with a one-inch layer of foam, wherein the foam may grip the uneven roof surface sufficiently that no nailing, or only a safety nail is required, allowing the unit to be moved freely along the roof.  
   
   
       10 . A tool tray backed with a layer of foam to prevent the tray from slipping off the roof, while allowing the tray to be freely moved along and up and down the roof, as work progresses, the tool tray comprising: 
 a flat lower portion backed with a layer of medium density expanded polyurethane foam; and    at least one compartments provided in the tray for holding roofing supplies and tools.    
   
   
       11 . An apparatus for allowing ladders and scaffolds to be readily attached to a structure or the like, comprising: 
 a clamp for clamping to a ladder leg or the like, the clamp being lined with an elastomeric material so as to grip the ladder leg securely;    means for securing the clamp to a fixed object.    
   
   
       12 . The apparatus of  claim 11 , wherein the fixed object is a tree and the means for securing comprises a strap wrapped around the tree.  
   
   
       13 . The apparatus of  claim 11 , wherein the fixed object is a roof, and the means for securing comprises an arm, pivotally joined to the clamp at one end and having a nailing plate at the other end for securing to a roof.  
   
   
       14 . The apparatus of  claim 11 , wherein the fixed object is a building, and the means for securing comprises a strap attached to the clamp at one end and having attached at the other end one of a clamp, a nailing plate, and a clip, for securing to the building.  
   
   
       15 . The apparatus of  claim 11 , wherein the fixed object is the ground, and the means for securing comprises an extendable pole attached to the clamp at one end and having a foot attached at the other end.  
   
   
       16 . The apparatus of  claim 15 , wherein the extendable pole is extended and locked into position by means of a removable pin.  
   
   
       17 . The apparatus of  claim 15 , wherein the extendable pole is extended and locked into position by means of a threaded rod.  
   
   
       18 . An apparatus for securing safety harness to a structure, comprising: 
 a first means, secured to the structure, for securing one end of a substantially horizontal safety clip receiving means;    a second means, secured to the structure a horizontal distance from the first means, for securing the other end of the substantially horizontal safety clip receiving means; and    the safety clip receiving means, attached at one end to the first means and at the other end to the second means, for receiving safety harness clips.    
   
   
       19 . The apparatus of  claim 18  wherein the safety clip receiving means comprises a metal rod.  
   
   
       20 . The apparatus of  claim 18  wherein the safety clip receiving means comprises a woven strap.
