Exterior vehicle ashtray system

Abstract

An ashtray that mounts on the exterior of a vehicle that avoids the undesirable conditions of internal ashtrays. The ashtray can mount on a vehicle window, in a vent, or under a vehicle exterior mirror or directly on the vehicle door. The ashtray can also be built-in to the vehicle at the time of manufacture. The ashtray can contain hook/loop material (VELCRO) to attach it to the vehicle door and magnets.

1 . A tobacco residue disposal system for mounting on the outside of a vehicle comprising: 
 a cavity for containing tobacco residue having an upper and lower end, said cavity having a lid on said upper end for closing said cavity;    an attaching device coupled to said cavity for mounting said cavity on a vehicle exterior, said cavity being removable via said attaching device from said vehicle exterior for emptying.    
   
   
       2 . The tobacco residue disposal system of  claim 1  wherein said attaching device is hook/loop material.  
   
   
       3 . The tobacco residue disposal system of  claim 1  wherein said attaching device is magnetic.  
   
   
       4 . The tobacco residue disposal system of  claim 1  wherein said attaching device comprises a pair of magnets, one of said magnets attached to said vehicle, the other of said magnets attached to said cavity.  
   
   
       5 . An ashtray mounted to a vehicle side door for retaining tobacco residue outside of the vehicle, the ashtray comprising a generally rectangular cavity for holding residue, the cavity being attached to the vehicle side door with at least one of either: and arrangement of hook/loop material with hooks on the vehicle side door and loops on the cavity or loops on the vehicle side door and hooks on the cavity, or a pair of magnets, one magnet on said vehicle side door and one magnet on said cavity.  
   
   
       6 . The ashtray of  claim 5  wherein said cavity includes a lid.  
   
   
       7 . The ashtray of  claim 6  wherein said lid flips to one of an open position and a closed position.  
   
   
       8 . An exterior vehicle ashtray comprising a generally rectangular box with a lid that has an open and a closed position, said box being attached to the outside of a vehicle by magnets or VELCRO.  
   
   
       9 . The exterior vehicle ashtray of  claim 8  wherein at least one face of said generally rectangular box is curved.  
   
   
       10 . The exterior vehicle ashtray of  claim 8  wherein at least one face of said generally rectangular box is polished.  
   
   
       11 . The exterior vehicle ashtray of  claim 8  wherein said generally rectangular box is plastic.  
   
   
       12 . The exterior vehicle ashtray of  claim 8  wherein said magnets include a first magnet attached to a vehicle door and a second magnet attached to said generally rectangular box.  
   
   
       13 . The exterior vehicle ashtray of  claim 8  wherein said VELCRO includes one of hook or loop material attached to a vehicle door and one of hook or loop material attached to said generally rectangular box.
