Absorbent and time release material

Abstract

An absorbent and time release material formed from a dried pulp impregnated with an impregnating substance such as wax or oil, that is ground to a powder or pellet form. The material can be used to suppress fires, reclaim land, retain water, provide traction on slippery surfaces, and enhance or replace soil mixes.

1 . An absorbent and time release material in the form of a powder, shavings, or sawdust, manufactured in accordance with a method comprising the steps of: 
 providing a pulp from a fibrous material;    forming said pulp into a block;    drying said block;    impregnating said dried block with a preselected substance;    grinding said impregnated block.    
     
     
         2 . The material according to  claim 1 , wherein said pulp comprises cloth fibers.  
     
     
         3 . The material according to  claim 1 , wherein said pulp comprises cellulose fibers.  
     
     
         4 . The material according to  claim 3 , wherein said cellulose fibers are dried paper pulp.  
     
     
         5 . The material according to  claim 3 , wherein said cellulose fibers are short strand wood fibers.  
     
     
         6 . The material according to  claim 3 , wherein said cellulose fibers are long strand wood fibers.  
     
     
         7 . The material according to  claim 3 , wherein said cellulose fibers are wood fibers from the processing of wood fiber fluff.  
     
     
         8 . The material according to  claim 1 , wherein said substance is selected from the group comprising paraffin wax, beeswax, wax derived from animal products and wax derived from vegetable products.  
     
     
         9 . The material according to  claim 1 , wherein said substance is selected from the group comprising petroleum wax, motor oil and grease.  
     
     
         10 . The material according to  claim 1 , wherein said pulp includes powdered material selected from one or more of the following waste material: railway ties, telephone poles, creosote, powdered coal, calcium oxalate-solids, Krofta™ fines, or bark.  
     
     
         11 . The material according to  claim 1 , wherein the substance is paraffin wax or beeswax.  
     
     
         12 . The material according to  claim 1 , wherein the step of impregnating said dried block with a preselected substance comprises immersing the block in the substance.  
     
     
         13 . The material according to  claim 1  in the form of a powder.  
     
     
         14 . The material according to  claim 1  used for suppressing fires.  
     
     
         15 . The material according to  claim 1  used for land reclamation.  
     
     
         16 . The material according to  claim 1  used for soil enhancement.  
     
     
         17 . The material according to  claim 1  used as a traction agent.  
     
     
         18 . The material according to  claim 1  used to recover petroleum products resulting from a spill.  
     
     
         19 . A method of manufacturing an absorbent and time release material comprising the steps of: 
 providing a pulp from a fibrous material;    forming said pulp into a block;    drying said block;    impregnating said dried block with a preselected substance;    grinding said impregnated block to form powder, shavings, or sawdust.    
     
     
         20 . The method according to  claim 19 , wherein said pulp comprises cloth fibers.  
     
     
         21 . The method according to  claim 19 , wherein said pulp comprises cellulose fibers.  
     
     
         22 . The method according to  claim 21 , wherein said cellulose fibers are dried paper pulp.  
     
     
         23 . The method according to  claim 21 , wherein said cellulose fibers are short strand wood fibers.  
     
     
         24 . The method according to  claim 21 , wherein said cellulose fibers are long strand wood fibers.  
     
     
         25 . The method according to  claim 21 , wherein said cellulose fibers are wood fibers from the processing of wood fiber fluff.  
     
     
         26 . The method according to  claim 19 , wherein said substance is selected from the group comprising paraffin wax, beeswax, wax derived from animal products and wax derived from vegetable products.  
     
     
         27 . The method according to  claim 19 , wherein said substance is selected from the group comprising petroleum wax, motor oil and grease.

         31 . The material according to  claim 19 , wherein the step of grinding said impregnated block results in the formation of a powder.
