Method of attaching a floral sleeve to a pot via bonding material

Abstract

A plant packaging method providing a tubular sleeve and attaching the sleeve to a potted plant via a-bonding material which may be disposed on the tubular sleeve, or on the pot of the potted plant, and a plant package produced by the method.

1 . A plant package produced by the method comprising the steps of: 
 providing a tubular sleeve comprising a base portion, a decorative skirt portion extending from the base portion, and a lower end, wherein the tubular sleeve has a flattened condition;    providing a container;    opening the tubular sleeve and disposing the container within the base portion of the tubular sleeve; and    securing the tubular sleeve about the container via a bonding material selected from the group consisting of a tie, ban, ribbon, string, tape, clamp, fastener, shrink material, and combinations thereof, thereby producing the plant package.    
     
     
         2 . The plant package of  claim 1  wherein in the step of providing the tubular sleeve, the base portion is further defined as being sized to substantially cover an outer peripheral surface of the container.  
     
     
         3 . The plant package of  claim 1  wherein the skirt portion of the tubular sleeve has a non-linear upper peripheral edge.  
     
     
         4 . The plant package of  claim 1  wherein the tubular sleeve is further defined as constructed from a material selected from the group consisting of treated paper, untreated paper, foil, polymeric film, non-polymeric film, woven fabric, nonwoven fabric, synthetic fabric, natural fabric, cardboard, fiber, cloth, burlap, and laminations or combinations thereof.  
     
     
         5 . The plant package of  claim 1  wherein, in the step of providing the tubular sleeve, the lower end is closed.  
     
     
         6 . The plant package of  claim 5  wherein the closed lower end of the tubular sleeve has a drain hole.  
     
     
         7 . The plant package of  claim 1  wherein in the step of providing a tubular sleeve, the lower end of the tubular sleeve is open.  
     
     
         8 . The plant package of  claim 1  wherein the tubular sleeve further comprises an upper portion.  
     
     
         9 . The plant package of  claim 8  wherein the upper portion is detachable via a detaching element in the tubular sleeve.  
     
     
         10 . The plant package of  claim 1  wherein the tubular sleeve is adapted to be supported from a support device.  
     
     
         11 . The plant package of  claim 10  wherein the tubular sleeve further comprises a support extension adapted for supporting the tubular sleeve from the support device.  
     
     
         12 . The plant package of  claim 11  wherein the support extension is detachable from the tubular sleeve.  
     
     
         13 . The plant package of  claim 1  wherein the container is selected from the group consisting of a pot, vase, potted plant, floral grouping, plant, botanical item, propagule, growing medium, retaining medium, and combinations thereof.  
     
     
         14 . The plant package of  claim 1  wherein, in the step of securing the tubular sleeve about the container, the tubular sleeve is secured about a portion of the container adjacent an upper end of the container.  
     
     
         15 . The plant package of  claim 1  wherein, in the step of securing the tubular sleeve about the container, the tubular sleeve is secured about a portion of the container a distance below an upper end of the container.  
     
     
         16 . The plant package of  claim 1  wherein, in the step of securing the tubular sleeve about the container, the tubular sleeve is secured about a portion of the container a distance above an upper end of the container.  
     
     
         17 . The plant package of  claim 1  wherein the base portion of the tubular sleeve is tapered.  
     
     
         18 . The plant package of  claim 1  wherein the tubular sleeve is initially constructed in a flattened condition.
