EB matrix production from fetal tissues and its use for tissue repair
Abstract
A method of forming and preserving a bioremodelable, biopolymer scaffold material by subjecting animal tissue to chemical and mechanical processing. In addition to skin tissue, another source of EBM is a blood vessel. EBM may be used for hernia repair, colon, rectal, vaginal and or urethral prolapse treatment; pelvic floor reconstruction; muscle flap reinforcement; lung tissue support; rotator cuff repair or replacement; periosteum replacement; dura repair; pericardial membrane repair; soft tissue augmentation; intervertebral disk repair; and periodontal repair. EBM may also be used as a urethral sling, laminectomy barrier or spinal fusion device.

exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method for producing and preserving a biopolymer scaffold material, comprising the steps of:
a. harvesting tissue from an animal source; b. inactivating infective agents of said tissue; c. applying pressure to said tissue to remove undesirable components from said tissue; d. delipidizing said tissue; and e. washing said tissue to remove chemical residues
2 . The method of claim 1 wherein said tissue is selected from the group consisting of fetal, neo-natal and post-natal animal tissue.
3 . The method of claim 2 wherein said tissue is bovine.
4 . The method of claim 2 wherein said tissue is porcine.
5 . A method for using the biopolymer scaffold material produced in claim 1 by applying said biopolymer scaffold material to a lesion or to damaged tissue to promote tissue regeneration.
6 . The method of claim 1 further comprising:
f. combining said biopolymer scaffold material with with signaling complexes OF stem cells, or with drugs.
7 . A method for using the biopolymer scaffold material as in claim 1 for hernia repair, the method comprising applying said biopolymer scaffold material to repair a hernia.
8 . A method for using the biopolymer scaffold material as in claim 1 for colon, rectal, vaginal or urethral prolapse treatment, the method comprising applying said biopolymer scaffold tissue to repair a colon, rectal, or urethral prolapse.
9 . A method for using the biopolymer scaffold material as in claim 1 for pelvic floor reconstruction, the method comprising applying said biopolymer scaffold tissue to reconstruct a pelvic floor.
10 . A method for using the biopolymer scaffold material as in claim 1 for muscle flap reinforcement, the method comprising applying said biopolymer scaffold tissue to reinforce a muscle flap.
11 . A method for using the biopolymer scaffold material produced as in claim 1 for supporting soft tissue of the lung the method comprising applying said biopolymer scaffold tissue to provide a soft tissue support for a lung.
12 . A method for using the biopolymer scaffold material produced as in claim 1 for rotator cuff repair and replacement, the method comprising applying said biopolymer scaffold tissue to repair or replace a rotator cuff.
13 . A method for using the biopolymer scaffold material produced as in claim 1 for periosteum replacement, the method comprising applying said biopolymer scaffold tissue to replace periosteum.
14 . A method for using the biopolymer scaffold material produced as in claim 1 for dura repair, the method comprising applying said biopolymer scaffold tissue to repair dura.
15 . A method for using the biopolymer scaffold material produced as in claim 1 for pericardial membrane repair, the method comprising applying said biopolymer scaffold tissue to repair a pericardial membrane.
16 . A method for using the biopolymer scaffold material produced as in claim 5 for soft tissue augmentation the method comprising applying said biopolymer scaffold tissue to repair or replace a rotator cuff.
17 . A method for using the biopolymer scaffold material as in claim 1 for intervertebral disk repair, the method comprising applying said biopolymer scaffold tissue to repair a intervertebral disk.
18 . A method for using the biopolymer scaffold material as in claim 1 for periodontal repair, the method comprising applying said biopolymer scaffold tissue to repair periodontal tissue.
19 . A method for using the biopolymer scaffold material as in claim 1 to provide a urethral sling the method comprising applying said biopolymer tissue to provide a urethral sling.
20 . A method for using the biopolymer scaffold material produced in claim 1 to provide a laminectomy barrier the method comprising applying said biopolymer scaffold tissue to provide a laminectomy barrier.
