Abstract
A composition for reducing the buildup of snow and ice on a surface. The composition includes a sugar-water mixture having approximately 15 to 80 percent by weight of a sugar solid, wherein the sugar solid contains approximately 2-60 percent by weight of a monosaccharide.

46 . A de-icing and anti-icing composition comprising an aqueous solution which contains a low molecular weight carbohydrate and calcium magnesium acetate in which the constituents are present in the following concentration:

47 . The composition of claim 46 , which further includes a colorant to provide visual aid in applying the composition to a surface.
48 . The composition of claim 46 which further includes a thickener in a concentration of about 0.15 to 10% by weight.
49 . The composition of claim 46 in which the molecular weight range for the carbohydrate is from about 180 to 1000.
50 . A de-icing and anti-icing composition comprising an aqueous solution which contains a low molecular weight carbohydrate and potassium acetate in which the constituents are present in the following concentration:

52 . The composition of claim 50 which further includes a thickener in a concentration of about 0.15 to 10% by weight.
53 . The composition of claim 50 in which the molecular weight range for th carbohydrate is from about 180 to 1000.
