Moxa and other medicament application devices for delivery of heated moxa or other medicaments and for use to deliver pressure at acupuncture points

Abstract

A device which can hold a position over a particular point, preferrably an acupuncture point, on a living body, has particularizeable plugs for performing different treatments to those points. Fixation to the body surface is preferred for treatment using the device is preferred. In most forms, the device will have a channel for accomodating and holding the therapy delivery devices. Moxa or other medicaments can be delivered using the inventive structures, as can pressure, or other force, and the devices can be used to provide heat, magnetism, or other forms of energy amenable to use in the inventive device, and which may be of interest in the oriental medicine and new age therapies of non-standard western medical practices.

1 . An apparatus for holding medicaments for heating in proximity to the skin of a living body or for holding other therapy delivery plugs in such proximity to skin locations, comprising: 
 a strap member for surrounding a body member of said living body to hold a portion of said apparatus in substantially immovable location relative to said body member,    a housing shaped to contain a channel for holding a delivery plug of a shape mated to fit within said channel in a fixed location within said channel.    
     
     
         2 . An apparatus as set forth in  claim 1  wherein said housing comprises an electrically conductive heater member connected with said channel and an electric circuit connected to said electrically conductive heater member to deliver electrical energy to said heater member.  
     
     
         3 . An apparatus as set forth in  claim 2  further comprising a switch connected to said electrical circuit to enable a user operating said switch to start or stop the delivery of said electrical energy to said electrically conductive heater member.  
     
     
         4 . An apparatus as set forth in  claim 3  wherein said switch has variable power settings to enable a user to adjust the heat level provided by the delivery of electrical energy to said electrically conductive heater member.  
     
     
         5 . An apparatus as set forth in  claim 2  wherein said medicament delivery plug is situate-able within said channel and said heater member is connected with said channel in a manner to transfer heat to said medicament delivery device when said delivery device is situate within said channel.  
     
     
         6 . An apparatus as set forth in  claim 1  wherein said housing has a clamping mechanism for securing a medicament delivery device in an adjustable fixed location within said channel.  
     
     
         7 . An apparatus as set forth in  claim 1  wherein said housing has an opening for a clamping means to secure a medicament delivery device in an adjustable fixed location within said channel.  
     
     
         8 . An apparatus as set forth in  claim 1  wherein said channel is comprised of a group of materials of the set: metal, ceramic or stone.  
     
     
         9 . A medicament delivery device plug adapted to contain moxa or other medicament and to fit fixedly within the channel of an apparatus as set forth in  claim 1 .  
     
     
         10 . A medicament delivery device plug adapted to fit within said housing of an apparatus as set forth in  claim 1  wherein said medicament delivcery device is adapted to be moveable within said housing.  
     
     
         11 . A surface application device plug adapted for fitting within said channel of said housing of the apparatus as set forth in  claim 1 , wherein said surface application device plug has a treatment end adapted to be held substantially against the surface of a living body, said treatment end comprising a treatment composition predetermined to deliver either tonification or sedation, said treatment composition being drawn from the set of treatment compositions comprising, gold colored metal, silver colored metal, and magnetic field supplying means of a specified polarity.
