Cleaning mat with a plurality of disposable sheets

Abstract

The cleaning mat is designed for placement on the floor and includes a base layer formed of a non-slip polymer material and a non-woven absorbent cleaning layer co-extensive with the base layer and attached thereto. A texture layer is attached to the cleaning layer. The texture layer includes a plurality of non-woven material sections, each having portions interconnected with the cleaning layer and a portion not connected with the cleaning layer and separable therefrom.

1 . A cleaning mat for placement on a floor and for cleaning the undersides of shoes, feet, and other objects, said cleaning mat comprising: 
 a base layer formed of a non-slip polymer material;    a non-woven absorbent cleaning layer coextensive with the base layer and attached thereto; and    a texture layer attached to the cleaning layer, the texture layer comprising a plurality of non-woven material sections each having a portion interconnected with the cleaning layer and portion not connected with the cleaning layer and separable therefrom.    
     
     
         2 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 1 , wherein the plurality of non-woven material sections comprise a sheet of non-woven material interconnected with the cleaning layer along elongated bonding zones, the bonding zones being spaced apart so as to define detached zones therebetween, the non-woven material being cut therethrough in the detached zones so as to provide openings therethrough.  
     
     
         3 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 2 , wherein the cuts through the non-woven material are straight cuts.  
     
     
         4 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 3 , wherein the cuts are arranged along a line with non-cut areas therebetween.  
     
     
         5 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 2 , wherein the cuts through the non-woven material are zigzag or curved cuts.  
     
     
         6 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 2 , wherein the bonding zones are bonding lines and the bonding lines are generally parallel such that the detached zones are generally straight strips.  
     
     
         7 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 6 , wherein the cuts through the non-woven material are straight cuts generally extending along a center line of the strips.  
     
     
         8 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 7 , wherein the cuts are arranged along a line with non-cut areas therebetween.  
     
     
         9 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 6 , wherein the cuts through the non-woven material are zigzag or curved cuts.  
     
     
         10 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 1 , wherein the texture layer is coextensive with the cleaning layer and base layer.  
     
     
         11 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 1 , wherein the base layer is textured.  
     
     
         12 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 1 , wherein the layers are scored or compressed to create folding lines to assist in folding the mat.  
     
     
         13 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 1 , wherein the mat has an upper surface, the upper surface having an abrasive coating applied to at least a portion thereof.  
     
     
         14 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 13 , wherein the abrasive coating comprises a plurality of abrasive particles in an acrylic emulsion.  
     
     
         15 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 1 , wherein the non-slip base layer is formed of a foamed PVC or Thermo-plastic Urethane.  
     
     
         16 . A cleaning mat for placement on a floor and for cleaning the undersides of shoes, feet, and other objects, said cleaning mat comprising: 
 a base layer formed of a non-slip polymer material;    an absorbent middle layer attached to the base layer; and    a non-woven cleaning layer attached to the middle layer.    
     
     
         17 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 16 , wherein the cleaning layer comprises a texture layer, the texture layer comprising a plurality of non-woven material sections each having a portion interconnected with the cleaning layer and portion not connected with the cleaning layer and separable therefrom.  
     
     
         18 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 17 , wherein the plurality of non-woven material sections comprise a sheet of non-woven material interconnected with the middle layer along elongated bonding zones, the bonding zones being spaced apart so as to define detached zones therebetween, the non-woven material being cut therethrough in the detached zones so as to provide openings therethrough.  
     
     
         19 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 18 , wherein the cuts through the non-woven material are straight cuts.  
     
     
         20 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 19 , wherein the cuts are arranged along a line with non-cut areas therebetween.  
     
     
         21 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 18 , wherein the cuts through the non-woven material are zigzag or curved cuts.  
     
     
         22 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 18 , wherein the bonding zones are bonding lines and the bonding lines are generally parallel such that the detached zones are generally straight strips.  
     
     
         23 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 22 , wherein the cuts through the non-woven material are straight cuts generally extending along a center line of the strips.  
     
     
         24 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 23 , wherein the cuts are arranged along a line with non-cut areas therebetween.  
     
     
         25 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 22 , wherein the cuts through the non-woven material are zigzag or curved cuts.  
     
     
         26 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 17 , wherein the texture layer is coextensive with the cleaning layer and base layer.  
     
     
         27 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 16 , wherein the cleaning layer has a plurality of apertures defined therethrough such that debris and liquid may pass through the apertures to the absorbent middle layer.  
     
     
         28 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 27 , wherein the absorbent middle layer has an adhesive applied to at least a portion of an upper surface thereof.  
     
     
         29 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 16 , wherein the absorbent middle layer includes super absorbent materials.  
     
     
         30 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 16 , wherein the mat has an upper surface, the upper surface having an abrasive coating applied to at least a portion thereof.  
     
     
         31 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 30 , wherein the abrasive coating comprises a plurality of abrasive particles in an acrylic emulsion.  
     
     
         32 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 16 , wherein the non-slip base layer is formed of a foamed PVC or Thermo-plastic Urethane.  
     
     
         33 . A cleaning mat for placement on a floor and for cleaning the undersides of shoes, feet, and other objects, said cleaning mat comprising: 
 a base layer formed of a non-slip polymer material; and    a non-woven absorbent cleaning layer generally coextensive with the base layer and attached thereto;    wherein the absorbent cleaning layer has apertures defined therethrough such that the base layer is visible through the apertures.    
     
     
         34 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 33 , wherein the base layer extends into the apertures such that the non-slip material provides a non-slip effect on an upper surface of the mat.  
     
     
         35 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 33 , wherein the non-slip material has a color different than a color of the cleaning layer such that the color of the non-slip material shows through the apertures.  
     
     
         36 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 33 , wherein the mat has an upper surface, the upper surface having an abrasive coating applied to at least a portion thereof.  
     
     
         37 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 36 , wherein the abrasive coating comprises a plurality of abrasive particles in an acrylic emulsion.  
     
     
         38 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 33 , wherein the non-slip base layer is formed of a foamed PVC or Thermo-plastic Urethane.  
     
     
         39 . A cleaning mat for placement on a floor and for cleaning the undersides of shoes, feet, and other objects, said cleaning mat comprising: 
 a base layer formed of a non-slip polymer material;    a non-woven absorbent cleaning layer generally coextensive with the base layer and attached thereto; and    a plurality of non-slip elements attached to an upper surface of the cleaning layer.    
     
     
         40 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 39 , wherein the non-slip elements are arranged so as to form a pattern.  
     
     
         41 . A cleaning mat for placement on a floor and for cleaning the undersides of shoes, feet, and other objects, said cleaning mat comprising: 
 a fibrous base layer formed of a plurality of fibers each having ends collectively defining an upper surface of the base; and    a removable and replaceable non-woven absorbent cleaning sheet disposed on the upper surface of the base.    
     
     
         42 . The cleaning mat according to  claim 41 , wherein the cleaning sheet comprises a polymer layer and a pair of non-woven layers sandwiching the polymer layer.
