Claims
Abstract
The present invention provides a method of treating meconium aspiration syndrome, said method comprising administering to a subject in need of treatment a therapeutically effective amount of albumin. A further aspect of the invention relates to the use of albumin in the preparation of a medicament for treating meconium aspiration syndrome, and a pharmaceutical composition comprising albumin admixed with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, diluent or excipient.

1 . A pharmaceutical composition comprising albumin and one or more bile acid blockers admixed with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, diluent or excipient.
2 . A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1 wherein said composition further comprises one or more surfactants.
3 . A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1 wherein the albumin is selected from the group consisting of serum albumin, plasma albumin, ovalbumin, lactalbumin, and soybean albumin.
4 . A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 3 wherein the albumin is serum albumin.
5 . A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 4 wherein the albumin is bovine serum albumin.
6 . A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1 wherein the bile acid blocker is selected from the group consisting of cholestyramin, antibodies against bile acids, and mixtures thereof.
7 . A pharmaceutical composition comprising:
albumin selected from the group consisting of serum albumin, plasma albumin, ovalbumin, lactalbumin, and soybean albumin; one or more bile acid blockers selected from the group consisting of cholestyramin, antibodies against bile acids, and mixtures thereof; and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, diluent or excipient.
8 . A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 7 wherein said composition further comprises one or more surfactants.
9 . A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 8 wherein the albumin is serum albumin.
