Apparatus for reducing accidental damage to seat materials

Abstract

An apparatus for protecting seat material includes a reversible cover operable to protect a vehicle seat. The cover includes a first side, a second side coupled to the first side, and a storage compartment coupled to the first side and positioned along a upper portion of the reversible cover. The reversible cover further includes at least one support element coupled to the first side and the second side and operable to provide vertical support of the reversible cover. The reversible cover further includes a removable storage compartment that may be used internal and external to a vehicle.

What is claimed is:  
     
         1 . An apparatus for protecting a vehicle seat having an upper backrest portion and a lower seat portion, the apparatus comprising: 
 a reversible cover operable to protect the vehicle seat, the reversible cover including a first side and a reversible side; and    a removable storage compartment operable to be coupled to either the first side or the reversible side of an upper portion of the reversible cover and substantially centered along the upper portion of either the first side or the reversible side.    
     
     
         2 . The apparatus of  claim 1  further comprising a hook and loop material operable to couple the reversible cover to a portion of the vehicle seat.  
     
     
         3 . The apparatus of  claim 1  further comprising at least one coupling element operable to securely fasten the protective cover to a portion of a safety restraint.  
     
     
         4 . The apparatus of  claim 1  further comprising a liquid resisting material.  
     
     
         5 . The apparatus of  claim 1  further comprising a slip resisting material.  
     
     
         6 . The apparatus of  claim 5  wherein the removable storage compartment comprises a netting material.  
     
     
         7 . The apparatus of  claim 1  wherein the removable storage compartment comprises a flexible material.  
     
     
         8 . An apparatus for protecting a vehicle seat having an upper backrest portion and a lower seat portion, the apparatus comprising: 
 a reversible cover operable to protect the vehicle seat, the reversible cover including a first side and a reversible side; and    a removable storage compartment operable to be coupled to either the first side or the reversible side of a lower portion of the reversible cover and substantially centered along the lower portion of either the first side or the reversible side.    
     
     
         9 . The apparatus of  claim 8  further comprising a strap material including snaps operable to couple the strap material around a portion of a headrest.  
     
     
         10 . The apparatus of  claim 8  further comprising an elastic strap operable to wrap around a portion of a hook operably associated with the elastic strap.  
     
     
         11 . The apparatus of  claim 8  further comprising the flexible storage compartment operable to be coupled to the first side and the reversible side of the reversible cover.  
     
     
         12 . An apparatus for protecting a vehicle bench seat having an upper backrest portion and a lower seat portion, the apparatus comprising: 
 a bench seat cover including an upper backrest portion and a lower seat portion, the cover operable to protect the vehicle bench seat; and    a coupling region substantially centered along the upper portion of the backrest and operable to support a removable storage compartment.    
     
     
         13 . The apparatus of  claim 12  further comprising a removable storage compartment coupled to the upper backrest portion of the bench cover.  
     
     
         14 . The apparatus of  claim 13  wherein the coupling region comprises a portion of a hook and loop material  
     
     
         15 . The apparatus of  claim 12  further comprising the removable storage compartment operable to be coupled to either the first side or the reversible side of a lower portion of the reversible cover and substantially centered along the lower portion of either the first side or the reversible side.  
     
     
         16 . The apparatus of  claim 12  further comprising the bench seat cover including a reversible side including a stain resisting material.  
     
     
         17 . The apparatus of  claim 12  further comprising the removable storage compartment including a mesh material.  
     
     
         18 . The apparatus of  claim 12  further comprising a second coupling region positioned along the lower portion and operable to support the removable storage compartment.  
     
     
         19 . An apparatus for protecting a vehicle bench seat having an upper backrest portion and a lower seat portion, the apparatus comprising: 
 a bench seat cover including an upper backrest portion and a lower seat portion, the cover operable to protect the vehicle bench seat;    a coupling region substantially centered along the upper portion of the backrest and operable to support a removable storage compartment; and    a removable storage compartment coupled to the coupling region, the removable storage compartment positioned along the upper backrest portion to facilitate allowing a passenger to sit along either side of the removable storage compartment.
