Abstract

A beverage container holder is disclosed which includes a magnet within the sleeve of a beverage container holder. The beverage container holder, along with any beverage container placed in the beverage container holder, may be mounted on any mounting surface having an associated ferrous material. The beverage container holder is held in place due to the force of the magnetic interaction between the magnet and the mounting surface.

What is claimed is:  
     
         1 . A beverage container holder, comprising: 
 a holder adapted to receive a beverage container; and    a magnet operatively associated with said holder and operable in interact with a mounting surface and secure said holder and beverage container to said mounting surface wherein, when mounted to said mounting surface, the side of the beverage container is at least substantially parallel to said mounting surface.    
     
     
         2 . A beverage container holder, as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said mounting surface is substantially vertical.  
     
     
         3 . A beverage container holder, as claimed in  claim 1 , further comprising: 
 a pouch located on said holder and adapted to receive said magnet and secure said magnet to said holder.    
     
     
         4 . A beverage container holder, as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said magnet is secured to said holder with an adhesive.  
     
     
         5 . A beverage container holder, as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said magnet is secured to said holder with a rivet.  
     
     
         6 . A beverage container holder, as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said magnet is embedded within said holder.  
     
     
         7 . A beverage container holder, as claimed in  claim 6 , wherein said holder includes a visual indicator on an outside surface indicating the location of said magnet.  
     
     
         8 . A beverage container holder, as claimed in  claim 6 , wherein said holder includes surface texturing on an outside surface indicating the location of said magnet.  
     
     
         9 . A beverage container holder, as claimed in  claim 8 , wherein said surface texturing includes a rubberized material.  
     
     
         10 . A beverage container holder, as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein a total magnetic field between said magnet and said mounting surface is about 800-1200 gauss.  
     
     
         11 . A beverage container holder, as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said holder comprises a flexible insulation.  
     
     
         12 . A beverage container holder, as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said holder comprises a rigid material.  
     
     
         13 . A beverage container holder, as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said mounting surface is a ferrous material.  
     
     
         14 . A beverage container holder, as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said mounting surface is a non-ferrous material with a ferrous material located adjacent thereto.  
     
     
         15 . A beverage container holder, as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said ferrous material is secured to said non-ferrous material with at least one rivet.  
     
     
         16 . A beverage container holder as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said magnet is operatively associated with a first clip, and said mounting surface includes a second clip which is adapted to receive said first clip, to form a mechanical lock between said holder and said mounting surface.  
     
     
         17 . A method for securing a beverage container to a mounting surface, comprising: 
 providing a holder adapted to receive said beverage container, the holder being operatively engaged with a magnet; and    placing said holder adjacent to said mounting surface, wherein said magnet is operable to interact with said mounting surface and secure said holder and beverage container to said mounting surface, wherein a side of the beverage container is at least substantially parallel to said mounting surface.    
     
     
         18 . A method for securing a beverage container to a mounting surface, as claimed in  claim 17 , wherein said mounting surface is substantially vertical.  
     
     
         19 . A method for securing a beverage container to a mounting surface, as claimed in  claim 17 , wherein said holder includes a pouch operatively engaged to said holder, said pouch adapted to receive said magnet, and wherein said magnet is inserted into said pouch.  
     
     
         20 . A method for securing a beverage container to a mounting surface, as claimed in  claim 17 , wherein said magnet is secured to said holder with an adhesive.  
     
     
         21 . A method for securing a beverage container to a mounting surface, as claimed in  claim 17 , wherein a total magnetic field between said magnet and said mounting surface is about 800-1200 gauss.  
     
     
         22 . A method for securing a beverage container to a mounting surface, as claimed in  claim 17 , wherein said holder comprises a flexible insulation.  
     
     
         23 . A method for securing a beverage container to a mounting surface, as claimed in  claim 17 , wherein said holder comprises a rigid material.  
     
     
         24 . A method for securing a beverage container to a mounting surface, as claimed in  claim 17 , wherein said mounting surface is a ferrous material.  
     
     
         25 . A method for securing a beverage container to a mounting surface, as claimed in  claim 17 , wherein said mounting surface is a non-ferrous material with a ferrous material located adjacent thereto.  
     
     
         26 . A method of manufacturing a holder for a beverage container, comprising: 
 forming a sleeve portion of the holder, said sleeve portion adapted to receive the beverage container; and    securing a magnet to said sleeve portion in a position such that a side of the beverage container is substantially parallel to a mounting surface when the beverage container is located in said sleeve and said holder is engaged with the mounting surface.    
     
     
         27 . A method of manufacturing a holder for a beverage container, as claimed in  claim 26 , wherein said mounting surface is substantially vertical.  
     
     
         28 . A method of manufacturing a holder for a beverage container, as claimed in  claim 26 , further comprising: 
 forming a base portion of the holder; and    securing said base portion to a first end of said sleeve, substantially closing said first end of said sleeve.    
     
     
         29 . A method of manufacturing a holder for a beverage container, as claimed in  claim 26 , wherein said forming step comprises: 
 injection molding an insulation material into a sleeve form.    
     
     
         30 . A method of manufacturing a holder for a beverage container, as claimed in  claim 26 , wherein said forming step comprises: 
 stitching end portions of a rectangle of fabric together to form said sleeve portion.    
     
     
         31 . A method of manufacturing a holder for a beverage container, as claimed in  claim 26 , wherein said securing step comprises: 
 stitching a pouch onto said sleeve portion, said pouch adapted to receive said magnet; and    inserting said magnet into said pouch.    
     
     
         32 . A method of manufacturing a holder for a beverage container, as claimed in  claim 26 , wherein said securing step comprises: 
 applying an adhesive to at least one of said magnet and said sleeve portion; and    positioning said magnet against said sleeve portion; and    curing said adhesive to secure said magnet to said sleeve portion.    
     
     
         33 . A method of manufacturing a holder for a beverage container, as claimed in  claim 26 , wherein said securing step comprises: 
 inserting said magnet into a preformed aperture in said sleeve.    
     
     
         34 . A beverage container holder, comprising: 
 holding means for holding a beverage container; and    mounting means for mounting said holding means to a mounting surface, said mounting means being secured to said holding means, wherein, when the beverage container is located in said holding means and said holding means is mounted on said mounting surface, a side of the beverage container is at least substantially parallel to said mounting surface.    
     
     
         35 . A beverage container holder, as claimed in  claim 34 , wherein said mounting surface is substantially vertical.  
     
     
         36 . A beverage container holder, as claimed in  claim 34 , wherein said holding means includes a sleeve portion adapted to receive the beverage container.  
     
     
         37 . A beverage container holder, as claimed in  claim 34 , wherein said mounting means includes a magnet secured to said holding means.  
     
     
         38 . A system for holding a beverage container; comprising: 
 a beverage container;    a holder adapted to receive said beverage container;    a magnet operatively engaged with said; and    a mounting surface operative to engage said magnet and secure said holder to said mounting surface, wherein, when said holder is secured to said mounting surface, a side of said beverage container is at least substantially parallel to said mounting surface.    
     
     
         39 . A system for holding a beverage container, as claimed in  claim 38 , wherein said mounting surface is substantially vertical.  
     
     
         40 . A system for holding a beverage container, as claimed in  claim 38 , further comprising: 
 a pouch located on said holder and adapted to receive said magnet and secure said magnet to said holder.    
     
     
         41 . A system for holding a beverage container, as claimed in  claim 38 , wherein said magnet is secured to said holder with an adhesive.  
     
     
         42 . A system for holding a beverage container, as claimed in  claim 38 , wherein said magnet is embedded within said holder.  
     
     
         43 . A system for holding a beverage container, as claimed in  claim 42 , wherein said holder includes a visual indicator on an outside surface indicating the location of said magnet.  
     
     
         44 . A system for holding a beverage container, as claimed in  claim 42 , wherein said holder includes surface texturing on an outside surface indicating the location of said magnet.  
     
     
         45 . A system for holding a beverage container, as claimed in  claim 44 , wherein said surface texturing includes a rubberized polymer.  
     
     
         46 . A system for holding a beverage container, as claimed in  claim 38 , wherein a total magnetic field between said magnet and said mounting surface is about 800-1200 gauss.  
     
     
         47 . A system for holding a beverage container, as claimed in  claim 38 , wherein said holder comprises a flexible insulation.
