Abstract
A cabinet for a home appliance is described as a sectioned lid of a top-loading washing machine. The cabinet includes an outer panel having at least one reinforcement rib, integrally formed on an inner surface of the outer panel, to protrude from the inner surface to a predetermined height; and an inner panel having at least one boss, formed on an inner surface of the inner panel in opposition to the reinforcement rib, for joining the panels together, wherein the boss has a flat surface for establishing a right angle with respect to the reinforcement rib.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A cabinet for a home appliance, the cabinet comprising:
an outer panel having at least one reinforcement rib, integrally formed on an inner surface of said outer panel, to protrude from the inner surface to a predetermined height; and an inner panel having at least one boss, formed on an inner surface of said inner panel in opposition to the at least one reinforcement rib, for joining said panels together, wherein the at least one boss has a flat surface for establishing a right angle with respect to the at least one reinforcement rib.
2 . The cabinet as claimed in claim 1 , wherein said panels are joined by a welding process.
3 . The cabinet as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the at least one reinforcement rib is welded to the at least one boss.
4 . The cabinet as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the at least one reinforcement rib has a flat distal end surface parallel to the flat surface of the at least one boss.
5 . The cabinet as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the at least one boss has at least one coupling groove formed in the flat surface in correspondence to the at least one reinforcement rib.
6 . The cabinet as claimed in claim 5 , wherein the at least one reinforcement rib is inserted into the at least one coupling groove.
7 . A cabinet for a home appliance, the cabinet comprising:
an outer panel having a plurality of reinforcement ribs, integrally formed on an inner surface of said outer panel, to protrude from the inner surface to a predetermined height; and an inner panel having at least one boss, formed on an inner surface of said inner panel in opposition to the plurality of reinforcement ribs, for joining said panels together, wherein the at least one boss has a flat surface for establishing a right angle with respect to the reinforcement ribs.
8 . The cabinet as claimed in claim 7 , wherein each of said plurality of reinforcement ribs has a flat distal end.
9 . The cabinet as claimed in claim 8 , wherein the flat distal ends of said plurality of reinforcement ribs lie in one plane.
10 . The cabinet as claimed in claim 7 , wherein the at least one boss has a plurality of coupling grooves formed in the flat surface in correspondence to the plurality of reinforcement ribs.
11 . The cabinet as claimed in claim 10 , wherein the reinforcement ribs are respectively inserted into the coupling grooves.
12 . A cabinet of a home appliance having a sectioned lid comprised of a first section and a second section having one end hinge-coupled to the first section, the cabinet comprising:
an outer panel having at least one reinforcement rib, integrally formed on an inner surface of said outer panel, to protrude from the inner surface to a predetermined height; and an inner panel having at least one boss, formed on an inner surface of said inner panel in opposition to the at least one reinforcement rib, for joining said panels together, wherein the at least one boss has a flat surface for establishing a right angle with respect to the at least one reinforcement rib.
13 . The cabinet as claimed in claim 12 , wherein the other end of the second section is hinge-coupled to the home appliance.
14 . The cabinet as claimed in claim 12 , wherein the first section comprises a grip for manually operating the sectioned lid.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
