Abstract
A system and method for composing, configuring, deploying, and managing services in a data processing system and data processing system network. This system provides deployment domains to define a logical set of business services that have similar requirements for an application infrastructure. A deployment domain is created, and a graphical user interface allows a user to compose, configure, deploy, and manage services within the deployment domain and associated hosts using a drag-and-drop interface.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method for managing services, comprising:
receiving a selection of a deployment domain; receiving an instruction to associate an object with the deployment domain; generating software code necessary to associate the object with the deployment domain; and installing the software code.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the object is a host data processing system.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the object is a service implementation software module.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the object is an infrastructure service software module.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the selection is received in a graphical user interface.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the instruction is made by dropping an icon representing the object onto a graphical user interface screen portion associated with the deployment domain.
7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving property information associated with the object.
8 . A data processing system having at least a processor and accessible memory, comprising:
means for receiving a selection of a deployment domain; means for receiving an instruction to associate an object with the deployment domain; means for generating software code necessary to associate the object with the deployment domain; and means for installing the software code.
9 . The data processing system of claim 8 , wherein the object is a host data processing system.
10 . The data processing system of claim 8 , wherein the object is a service implementation software module.
11 . The data processing system of claim 8 , wherein the object is an infrastructure service software module.
12 . The data processing system of claim 8 , wherein the selection is received in a graphical user interface.
13 . The data processing system of claim 8 , wherein the instruction is made by dropping an icon representing the object onto a graphical user interface screen portion associated with the deployment domain.
14 . The data processing system of claim 8 , further comprising means for receiving property information associated with the object.
15 . A computer program product tangibly embodied in a computer-readable medium, comprising:
instructions for receiving a selection of a deployment domain; instructions for receiving an instruction to associate an object with the deployment domain; instructions for generating software code necessary to associate the object with the deployment domain; and instructions for installing the software code.
16 . The computer program product of claim 15 , wherein the object is a host data processing system.
17 . The computer program product of claim 15 , wherein the object is a service implementation software module.
18 . The computer program product of claim 15 , wherein the object is an infrastructure service software module.
19 . The computer program product of claim 15 , wherein the selection is received in a graphical user interface.
20 . The computer program product of claim 15 , wherein the instruction is made by dropping an icon representing the object onto a graphical user interface screen portion associated with the deployment domain.
21 . The computer program product of claim 15 , further comprising instructions for receiving property information associated with the object.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
