Abstract

A grip for a golf putter that includes a shaft defining a longitudinal axis and a putter head having a putter face. The grip comprises an elongated body that extends along a major axis corresponding to the longitudinal axis defined by the shaft. The body has a front side and an opposing back side. The front side is substantially flat and the back side has a substantially round or circular shape, or a substantially triangular shape. The body defines an elongated cross-section that extends along a transverse axis that is substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and transverse to the club face.

What is claimed is:  
     
         1 . A club comprising: 
 a club head including a club face;    a shaft coupled to the club head at a distal end of the shaft, the shaft defining a longitudinal axis, the shaft defining an obtuse angle with respect to the club head;    a grip coupled to a proximal end of the shaft, the grip comprising an elongated body that extends along a major axis corresponding to the longitudinal axis, the body including a front side and an opposing back side, the front side being substantially flat and the back side having one of a rounded or triangular shape.    
     
     
         2 . A club in accordance with  claim 1  wherein the grip further comprises a recess for receiving the shaft to thereby couple the grip to the shaft.  
     
     
         3 . A club in accordance with  claim 1  wherein the shaft projects slightly through the front side of the grip.  
     
     
         4 . A club in accordance with  claim 1  wherein the grip is integral with the shaft.  
     
     
         5 . A club in accordance with  claim 1  wherein the grip includes rounded edges.  
     
     
         6 . A club in accordance with  claim 1  wherein the grip includes sharp edges.  
     
     
         7 . A club comprising: 
 a club head including a club face;    a shaft coupled to the club head at a distal end of the shaft, the shaft defining a longitudinal axis, the shaft defining an obtuse angle with respect to the club head;    a grip coupled to a proximal end of the shaft, the grip comprising an elongated body that extends along a major axis corresponding to the longitudinal axis, the body including a front side and an opposing back side, the front side and back side being fairly flat such that the grip has a substantially elliptical shape.    
     
     
         8 . A club in accordance with  claim 7  wherein the grip further comprises a recess for receiving the shaft to thereby couple the grip to the shaft.  
     
     
         9 . A club in accordance with  claim 7  wherein the shaft projects slightly through the front side of the grip.  
     
     
         10 . A club in accordance with  claim 7  wherein the grip is integral with the shaft.  
     
     
         11 . A club in accordance with  claim 7  wherein the grip includes rounded edges.  
     
     
         12 . A club in accordance with  claim 7  wherein the grip includes sharp edges.
