Fire protection device for domestic appliances

Abstract

A fire protection device for preventing damage to a domestic appliance from a malfunction which occurs in the appliance. The fire protection device includes at least one fault current circuit breaker, which disconnects the electrical supply from the appliance when a fault current is sensed. The fire protection device also includes at least one gas sensor which also disconnects the electrical supply from the appliance when a predetermined quantity of a control gas is sensed in the appliance.

A fire protection device for domestic appliances comprising at least one fault current circuit breaker and at least one gas sensor ( 5 ) with gas sensor circuit, whereby the at least one fault current circuit breaker is designed such and arranged in the domestic appliance ( 2 ), that a fault current in one of the electrical conductor of the domestic appliance ( 2 ) results in disconnection of the electricity supply of the domestic appliance ( 2 ) and the at least one gas sensor ( 5 ) from a certain quantity of control gas inside the domestic appliance ( 2 ) generates a signal, which likewise leads to disconnection of the electricity supply of the domestic appliance ( 2 ).

The fire protection device as claimed in  claim 1 , characterised in that a fault current in one of the electrical conductors of the domestic appliance ( 2 ) leads to all-pole disconnection of the electricity supply of the domestic appliance ( 2 ) and the at least one gas sensor ( 5 ) from a certain quantity of control gas inside the domestic appliance ( 2 ) generates a signal, which likewise leads to all-pole disconnection of the electricity supply of the domestic appliance ( 2 ).  
     
     
         3 . The fire protection device as claimed in  claim 1  or  2 , characterised in that the fault current circuit breaker is integrated into the mains plug ( 1 ) of the domestic appliance ( 2 ).  
     
     
         4 . The fire protection device as claimed in  claim 3 , characterised in that a main switch ( 6 ) for supplying the individual components of the domestic appliance ( 2 ) is connected to the mains plug ( 1 ), and this main switch ( 6 ) is supplied only with low voltage.  
     
     
         5 . The fire protection device as claimed in  claim 4 , characterised in that the gas sensor circuit with gas sensor ( 5 ) is connected to the fault current circuit breaker.

The fire protection device as claimed in  claim 4 , characterised in that the gas sensor circuit is connected with the gas sensor ( 5 ) directly to the protective conductor (PE) and the fault current circuit breaker is triggered at a certain concentration of the control gas.  
     
     
         7 . The fire protection device as claimed in  claim 4 , characterised in that the main switch ( 6 ) is connected directly to the protective conductor (PE)  
     
     
         8 . The fire protection device as claimed in any one of the foregoing claims, characterised in that the fault current circuit breaker acts as main switch for the domestic appliance ( 2 ).  
     
     
         9 . The fire protection device as claimed in any one of the foregoing claims, characterised in that the gas sensor ( 5 ) is arranged in a door of the domestic appliance ( 2 ).  
     
     
         10 . The fire protection device as claimed in any one of the foregoing claims, characterised in that the gas sensor ( 5 ) is arranged in the floor region of the domestic appliance ( 2 ).
