Abstract
A plastic container comprising an internal layer including a highdensity polythylene and an external layer including a styrenic component containing from 40 to 85 wt. % of styrene based on the weight of the external layer.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A plastic container comprising an internal layer including a high density plyethylene and an external layer including a styrenic component containing from 40 to 85 wt % of styrene based on the weight of the external layer.
2 . A plastic container according to claim 1 , wherein the polyolefin is a high density polyethylene having a density of from 0.95 to 0.97 g/cm 3 .
3 . A plastic container according to claim 1 or claim 2 , wherein the styrenic component includes a copolymer of styrene and butadiene.
4 . A plastic container according to claim 3 , wherein the copolymer is a styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymer.
5 . A plastic container according to claim 3 or claim 4 wherein the styrenic component further includes polystyrene physically blended with the copolymer.
6 . A plastic container according to any foregoing claim wherein the styrenic component contains from 70 to 75 wt % of styrene based on the weight of the external layer.
7 . A plastic container according to any foregoing claim wherein the external layer has a thickness of from 5 to 10% of the total wall thickness of the container.
8 . A plastic container according to any foregoing claim which is blow moulded.
9 . A plastic container according to any foregoing claim wherein the external layer has a gloss of at least 40.
10 . A plastic container according to any foregoing claim wherein the container external layer has a peel strength of at least 5N for removing a 25 mm side label in accordance with the peel test of ASTM D 903-49.
11 . A process for producing a plastic container, comprising the steps of coextruding a parison comprising an internal layer including a polyolefin and an external layer including a styrenic component which contains from 40 to 85 wt % of styrene based on the weight of the external layer, and blow moulding the parison to form a container.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
