Abstract

A cleaning device is disclosed having a cleaning member, the cleaning member having a first surface, the surface having synthetic loops. The cleaning member having a base plate, the base plate having a plurality of projections for gripping said first surface of said cleaning member. The projections have a stiff top segment, the top segment having opposing ends, the ends extend the said top segment by a predefined distance. The opposing ends capable of being repetitively gripped and released from the first surface of the cleaning member. The projections have a stiff intermediate section, the intermediate section separating the top segment from the base plate by a predefined distance.

Claims

We claim:

         1 . A cleaning device comprising:
 a cleaning member, said cleaning member having a first surface, said surface having synthetic loops; a base plate, said base plate having a plurality of projections for gripping said first surface of said cleaning member, said projections comprising: i. a stiff top segment, said top segment having opposing ends, said ends extend from said top segment by a predefined distance, said opposing ends capable of being repetitively gripped and released from said first surface of said cleaning member; ii. a stiff intermediate section, said intermediate section separating said top segment from said base plate by a predefined distance.

         2 . The cleaning device of claim 1 wherein said opposing ends of said projections each having free ends, said opposing ends having a cross section that is thicker at the connection of said ends to said top segment than at said free ends.

         3 . The cleaning device of claim 2 wherein said intermediate section having a bottom end defined by the connection of the intermediate section to said base plate and a top end defined by the connection of the intermediate section to the top segment, wherein:
 said intermediate section having a cross section that is thicker at the bottom end than at the top end.

         4 . The cleaning device of claim 3 wherein the opposing ends terminate at substantially a point.

         5 . The cleaning device of claim 4 wherein the distance between the end of each free end is substantially the same as the distance between the top end and the bottom end of the intermediate segment.

         6 . The cleaning device of claim 5 wherein said plurality of projections arranged in an array having a predetermined number of columns and rows for securely gripping said cleaning member.

         7 . The cleaning device of claim 6 wherein said cleaning member first side comprises Loop Velcro.

         8 . The cleaning device of claim 6 wherein said cleaning member first side comprises a scouring surface.

         9 . The cleaning device of claim 7 wherein said cleaning member has a second surface comprising a sponge and a third surface comprising a scouring pad.

         10 . The cleaning device of claim 8 wherein said cleaning member has a second surface comprising a sponge.

         11 . The cleaning device of claim 9 wherein said base plate comprises a handle member including a grasping means the top of which is one of:
 i. a sphere; and
 ii. curved throughout and configured in such a manner as to closely conform to the curvature of the inside of a grasping human hand;
 wherein said grasping means is one of:
 i. integral to said base plate; and
 ii. removable from said base plate.

         12 . The cleaning device of claim 10 wherein said base plate comprises a handle member including a grasping means the top of which is member including a grasping means the top of which is one of:
 i. a sphere; and
 ii. curved throughout and configured in such a manner as to closely conform to the curvature of the inside of a grasping human hand;
 wherein said grasping means is one of:
 i. integral to said base plate; and
 ii. removable from said base plate.
