Abstract

Storing an application onto a system includes receiving the application, determining specifications of the system, and reorganizing the application in accordance with the specifications of the system so as to improve execution of the application. The reorganized application is stored on the system.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed:

1 . A process for storing an application onto a system, the process comprising:
receiving the application; determining specifications of the system; reorganizing the application in accordance with the specifications of the system so as to improve execution of the application; and storing the reorganized application on the system.

2 . The process of claim 1 wherein determining specifications of the system comprises determining hardware specifications of the system and reorganizing the application comprises reorganizing the application in view of the hardware specifications.

3 . The process of claim 1 wherein determining specifications of the system further comprises determining operating system specifications of the system and reorganizing the application further comprises reorganizing the application in view of the operating system specifications.

4 . The process of claim 1 wherein determining specifications of the system comprises determining operating system specifications of the system and reorganizing the application comprises reorganizing the application in view of the operating system specifications.

5 . The process of claim 1 wherein storing the reorganized application comprises storing the reorganized application in persistent memory of the system.

6 . The process of claim 5 further comprising executing the reorganized application directly from the persistent memory without further reorganizing the reorganized application in volatile memory.

7 . The process of claim 5 wherein storing the reorganized application comprises storing the reorganized application linearly in contiguous portions of the persistent memory and with instructions of the reorganized application stored in order of execution.

8 . The process of claim 1 wherein receiving the application comprises receiving the application as a download from another system.

9 . The process of claim 1 wherein receiving the application comprises receiving the application as an update to an existing application.

10 . The process of claim 1 wherein reorganizing the application comprises linearizing the application.

11 . The process of claim 1 wherein reorganizing the application comprises removing extraneous code from the application.

12 . A computer-readable medium having stored thereon one or more sequences of instructions for causing a processing system to:
receive an application; determine specifications of the processing system; reorganize the application in accordance with the specifications of the system so as to improve execution of the application; and store the reorganized application on the system.

13 . The computer-readable medium of claim 12 wherein the instructions include instructions for causing the processing system to determine hardware specifications of the system and reorganize the application in view of the hardware specifications.

14 . The computer-readable medium of claim 13 wherein the instructions include instructions for causing the processing system to determine operating system specifications of the system and reorganize the application in view of the operating system specifications.

15 . The computer-readable medium of claim 12 wherein the instructions include instructions for causing the processing system to determine operating system specifications of the system and reorganize the application in view of the operating system specifications.

16 . The computer-readable medium of claim 12 wherein the instructions include instructions for causing the processing system to store the reorganized application in persistent memory of the processing system.

17 . The computer-readable medium of claim 16 wherein the instructions include instructions for causing the processing system to execute the reorganized application directly from the persistent memory.

18 . The computer-readable medium of claim 16 wherein the instructions include instructions for causing the processing system to store the reorganized application linearly in generally contiguous portions of the persistent memory and with instructions of the reorganized application stored in order of execution.

19 . The computer-readable medium of claim 12 wherein the instructions include instructions for causing the processing system to reorganize the application by linearizing the application.

20 . The computer-readable medium of claim 12 wherein the instructions include instructions for causing the processing system to reorganize the application by removing extraneous code from the application.

         21 . A system comprising:
a persistent memory, a processor coupled with the persistent memory, and a pre-processor that reorganizes a received application in accordance with specifications of the system so as to improve execution of the application, and stores the application in the persistent memory.

22 . The system of claim 21 wherein the pre-processor reorganizes the application in view of hardware specifications of the system.

23 . The system of claim 21 wherein the pre-processor reorganizes the application in view of operating system specifications of the system.

24 . The system of claim 21 wherein the processor executes the reorganized application directly from the persistent memory without further reorganizing the reorganized application in volatile memory.

25 . The system of claim 21 wherein the pre-processor stores the reorganized application linearly in contiguous portions of the persistent memory and with instructions of the reorganized application stored in order of execution.
