Apparatus and method for recording the impact location between a golf ball and a golf club

Abstract

An apparatus and method for recording an impact location between a golf ball and a golf club is disclosed. The apparatus includes a recording member having a napped surface. The napped surface is disposed on one side of the recording member for recording the impact location between the golf ball and the golf club.

The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:  
     
         1 . An apparatus for recording an impact location between a golf ball and a golf club comprising: 
 a recording member having a first side and a second side opposite the first side;    an adhesive disposed on the first side for affixing the recording member to the golf club; and    a napped surface disposed on the second side for recording the impact location between the golf ball and the golf club.    
     
     
         2 . The apparatus of  claim 1  wherein the napped surface is a sueded surface.  
     
     
         3 . The apparatus of  claim 1  wherein the recording member is selected from the group consisting of cowhide, calfskin, kidskin, lambskin, goatskin, pigskin, and deerskin.  
     
     
         4 . The apparatus of  claim 1  wherein the recording member is selected from the group consisting of velvet, velour and corduroy.  
     
     
         5 . The apparatus of  claim 1  wherein the napped surface includes a plurality of man-made fibers.  
     
     
         6 . The apparatus of  claim 1  wherein the napped surface includes a plurality of natural fibers.  
     
     
         7 . The apparatus of  claim 1  wherein the adhesive is a releasable adhesive.  
     
     
         8 . The apparatus of  claim 1  wherein the recording member includes an aperture.  
     
     
         9 . An apparatus for recording an impact location between a golf ball and a golf club comprising: 
 a recording member having a first surface and a second surface;    an adhesive disposed on the first surface for attaching the recording member to the golf club;    a plurality of fibers disposed on the second surface for recording the impact location between the golf ball and the golf club.    
     
     
         10 . The apparatus of  claim 9  wherein the plurality of fibers are natural fibers.  
     
     
         11 . The apparatus of  claim 9  wherein the plurality of fibers are a plurality of hairs.  
     
     
         12 . The apparatus of  claim 9  wherein the plurality of fibers are man-made.  
     
     
         13 . The apparatus of  claim 9  wherein the adhesive is double-sided tape.  
     
     
         14 . A method of recording a location of impact between a golf ball and a golf club comprising: 
 attaching a recording member having a napped surface to the golf club;    striking the golf ball with the golf club; and    leaving a mark on the napped surface at the location of impact between the golf ball and the golf club.    
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 14  wherein the mark is created by compressing the napped surface at the location of impact between the golf ball and the golf club.  
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 14  wherein the napped surface includes a plurality of fibers and the mark is created by mis-aligning the plurality of fibers at the location of impact between the golf ball and the golf club.  
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 14  further comprising erasing the mark from the napped surface.  
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 16  wherein the mark is erased by raising the nap on the napped surface.  
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 16  wherein the mark is erased by brushing the napped surface.  
     
     
         20 . An apparatus for recording an impact location between a golf ball and a face of a golf club comprising a recording member sized-to-fit on the face of the golf club and having a napped surface for recording the impact location between the golf ball and the face of the golf club.  
     
     
         21 . The apparatus of  claim 20  wherein the recording member further includes an adhesive for attaching the recording member to the face of the golf club.  
     
     
         22 . The apparatus of  claim 20  wherein the recording member is selected from the group consisting of cowhide, calfskin, kidskin, lambskin, goatskin, pigskin, and deerskin.  
     
     
         23 . The apparatus of  claim 20  wherein the recording member is selected from the group consisting of velvet, velour and corduroy.  
     
     
         24 . The apparatus of  claim 20  wherein the napped surface includes a plurality of man-made fibers.  
     
     
         25 . The apparatus of  claim 20  wherein the napped surface includes a plurality of natural fibers.
