Flag-inspired ornament with information field, mobile advertising ornament having first and second message fields, and spring mounts therefore

Abstract

A spherical ornament having first and second message fields, wherein the first message field has a dark field with at least one star superimposed thereon and a striped field proximate to the dark field, and the second field contains a second message. In a preferred embodiment, the dark field is a blue equilateral triangle with a plurality of white stars, and is contacted on at least two sides by a field of red stripes on a white background. In a preferred embodiment, the ornament is an antenna ball, dangler, or pen and pencil topper, having a diameter between about 1 and about 2 inches. The second message field can be used to advertise a business entity or cause, or send another desired message. A unique spring mount, advertising method, and advertising devices are also disclosed.

1 . A spherical ornament having first and second message fields, wherein said first message field has a dark field with at least one star superimposed thereon and a striped field proximate to said dark field, and said second field contains a second message.  
     
     
         2 . The ornament of  claim 1 , wherein said sphere has a diameter of between about 1 inch and about 2 inches.  
     
     
         3 . The ornament of  claim 1 , wherein said dark field is blue in color, has three sides, and has between 2 and about 10 stars.  
     
     
         4 . The ornament of  claim 3 , wherein said dark field has 6 stars.  
     
     
         5 . The ornament of  claim 4 , wherein said striped field has at least three red stripes on a white background.  
     
     
         6 . The ornament of  claim 3 , wherein said dark field has three sides of about equal length and covers about ⅛ of the sphere circumference.  
     
     
         7 . The ornament of  claim 6 , wherein said striped field takes up about ⅜ of the surface of the sphere.  
     
     
         8 . The ornament of  claim 7 , wherein at least two sides of said striped field contact said dark field, wherein the combined area covered by said dark field and said stripped field is about ½ of the surface area of said sphere.  
     
     
         9 . The ornament of  claim 1 , detachably mounted on a spring mount, said mount comprising a base, a shaft, and surface attachment mechanism, said base having a top and a bottom, said shaft being flexible and resilient projecting from said top of said base, and said attachment mechanism being attached to said bottom of said base.  
     
     
         10 . A spring mounted display, comprising 
 a spring mount, said mount comprising a base, a shaft, and a surface attachment mechanism, said base having a top and a bottom, said shaft having a top and a bottom and being flexible and resilient, said bottom of said shaft being connected to and projecting from said top of said base, and said attachment mechanism being attached to said bottom of said base,    wherein said shaft is formed of a coiled wire, and    a display, said display having a frame and an image display area, said frame having a receptacle for receiving and gripping said shaft, wherein said frame can be mounted on a surface via said spring mount.    
     
     
         11 . The display of  claim 10 , wherein said frame is made of ethyl vinyl acetate.  
     
     
         12 . The display of  claim 10 , wherein said shaft is about ¼ inch in diameter, and has about 6 coils per inch.  
     
     
         13 . The display of  claim 11 , wherein said shaft is about ¼ inch in diameter, and has about 6 coils per inch.  
     
     
         14 . An advertising ornament having first and second message fields suitable for mounting on a vehicle antenna or hanging from a vehicle rear view mirror, wherein said first message field has a first well known message, and said second field contains a second message different from the first message.  
     
     
         15 . The advertising ornament of  claim 14 , wherein said first message field incorporates a movie character, and said second message field contains a reference to a movie.  
     
     
         16 . The advertising ornament of  claim 15 , wherein said movie character is well known prior to the production of the ornament.  
     
     
         17 . The advertising ornament of  claim 14 , wherein said first field includes a cartoon character.  
     
     
         18 . The advertising ornament of  claim 14 , wherein said first field includes a movie or cartoon character, and said second field includes a message directed to a product of a third party that has paid a fee to the owner of intellectual property rights in the movie or cartoon character to use said character in the said message field.  
     
     
         19 . The advertising ornament of  claim 14 , further comprising a detachable mount for mounting said ornament for display on a surface.  
     
     
         20 . The advertising ornament of  claim 19 , wherein said mount comprises a base, a shaft, and a surface attachment mechanism, said base having a top and a bottom, said shaft having a top and a bottom and being flexible and resilient, said bottom of said shaft being connected to and projecting from said top of said base, and said attachment mechanism being attached to said bottom of said base, and wherein said shaft is formed of a coiled wire.
