Abstract

The present invention provides a dietary regime for a companion animal. The dietary regime comprises feeding the companion animal a food product which is designed for administration for a particular event. The present invention includes a sequence of products for feeding at prescribed times or in a prescribed order to accommodate a physiological need or modify a physiological response.

1 . A dietary regime for a companion animal, the dietary regime comprising feeding the companion animal a food product which is designed for administration for a particular event.  
     
     
         2 . A dietary regime as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the event is one or more of a particular part of the day, a particular day of the week or a particular day of the year.  
     
     
         3 . A dietary regime as claimed in  claim 2 , which comprises a food product which is designed for administration during the morning.  
     
     
         4 . A dietary regime as claimed in  claim 3 , wherein the food product is a breakfast food.  
     
     
         5 . A dietary regime as claimed in  claim 2 , comprising a food product which is designed for administration during the middle part of the day.  
     
     
         6 . A dietary regime, as claimed in any one of  claims 1  to  5 , wherein the food product comprises fat at a proportion of between 20% and 70%.  
     
     
         7 . A dietary regime as claimed in  claim 2 , comprising a food product which is designed for administration during the afternoon.  
     
     
         8 . A dietary regime as claimed in  claim 2 , comprising a food product which is designed for administration during the evening.  
     
     
         9 . A dietary regime, as claimed in any one of  claims 1  to  8 , wherein the food product comprises fat at a proportion of between 25% and 75%.  
     
     
         10 . A dietary regime, as claimed in any one of  claims 1  to  9 , wherein a food product designed for administration during the afternoon or during the evening is higher in fat energy content by at least 5% in comparison to a food product in the regime designed for administration during the morning or during the middle part of the day.  
     
     
         11 . A dietary regime as claimed in any one of  claims 1  to  10 , which comprises a snack food product for feeding between meals.  
     
     
         12 . A dietary regime as claimed in  claim 11 , wherein the snack is a morning, afternoon or evening snack food product.  
     
     
         13 . A pet food product which is part of a dietary regime, as claimed in any one of  claims 1  to  12 .  
     
     
         14 . The use of a pet food product as claimed in  claim 13 , in a dietary regime.  
     
     
         15 . The use of a pet food product as claimed in  claim 13 , for feeding at prescribed times or in a prescribed order to accommodate a physiological need or modify a physiological response.  
     
     
         16 . Use of ingredients in the manufacture of a pet food product for a dietary regime, as claimed in any one of  claims 1  to  13 .  
     
     
         17 . A sequence of pet food products for feeding at prescribed times or in a prescribed order to accommodate a physiological need or modify a physiological response.  
     
     
         18 . A dietary regime substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to any one of the examples.
