Toy action figure

Abstract

A toy action figure having connection capabilities in both hands and feet for selective connection to a toy vehicle. The feet of the action figure have retractable clips for attaching the same to various parts of a toy vehicle, while the hands have molded clips which allow for connection to the same and possible other parts of the toy vehicle. A strong detent system is disposed in the shoulder and hip joints of the action figure to provide for freedom in the selective positioning of the arms and legs, while maintaining rigidity in such positions so as to prevent the arms and legs from moving in the presence of toy vehicle movement.

What is claimed is:  
     
         1 . A toy action figure comprising: 
 shoulders, arms, legs, hands, feet, a body, a plurality of joints in the shoulders, arms, legs, hands, feet and body; and    connection means disposed in said hands and said feet for enabling releasable connection of said action figure to a toy vehicle.    
     
     
         2 . The action figure according to  claim 1 , wherein said connection means in said feet comprises a retractable clip being selectively retractable from the feet when needed for securing one or more of said feet to a toy vehicle.  
     
     
         3 . The action figure according to  claim 1 , further comprising: 
 a shoulder joint where the arms meet the body;    a shoulder joint detent system for selectively retaining a desired position of an attached arm;    a hip joint where the legs meet the body; and    a hip joint detent system for selectively retaining a desired position of an attached leg.    
     
     
         4 . The action figure according to  claim 3 , wherein shoulder joint detent system comprises: 
 a detent cage mounted within the body of the action figure and having a central mounting hole and at least one protrusion;    a spur gear having a central keyed hole and being disposed in said detent cage; and    a shoulder shaft having an axis of rotation, a keyed end for insertion into said central keyed hole of said spur gear, and an arm engaging end for connection to the arm of the action figure.    
     
     
         5 . The action figure according to  claim 4 , wherein said shoulder shaft further comprises a collar for preventing said shoulder shaft from being pulled from the body of the action figure.  
     
     
         6 . The action figure according to  claim 4 , wherein said arm engaging end further comprises a rounded end for enabling movement of the arm in three dimensions when combined with the rotation about said shoulder shaft axis.  
     
     
         7 . The action figure according to  claim 3 , wherein said hip joint detent system comprises: 
 a detent cage mounted within the body of the action figure and having a central hole and at least one protrusion;    a hip shaft having one end, and opposing end and a spur gear mounted between said ends, said one end being inserted into said central hole of said detent cage such that said spur gear engages said at least one protrusion.    
     
     
         8 . The action figure according to  claim 7 , wherein said opposing end of said hip shaft comprises a keyed portion for connected to a leg of the action figure.  
     
     
         9 . A toy action figure comprising: 
 shoulders, arms, legs, hands, feet, a body, a plurality of joints in the shoulders, arms, legs, hands, feet and body; and    a shoulder joint detent system for selectively retaining a desired position of an attached arm with respect to the body;    a hip joint detent system for selectively retaining a desired position of an attached leg with respect to the body; and    connection means disposed in said feet for enabling releasable connection of at least one of said feet to a toy vehicle.    
     
     
         10 . The toy action figure according to  claim 10 , wherein said connection means comprises a retractable clip disposed in said feet.  
     
     
         11 . The toy action figure according to  claim 10 , wherein said shoulder detent system comprises: 
 a detent cage mounted within the body of the action figure and having a central mounting hole and at least one protrusion;    a spur gear having a central keyed hole and being disposed in said detent cage; and    a shoulder shaft having an axis of rotation, a keyed end for insertion into said central keyed hole of said spur gear, and an arm engaging end for connection to the arm of the action figure.    
     
     
         12 . The action figure according to  claim 11 , wherein said shoulder shaft further comprises a collar for preventing said shoulder shaft from being pulled from the body of the action figure.  
     
     
         13 . The action figure according to  claim 11 , wherein said arm engaging end further comprises a rounded end for enabling movement of the arm in three dimensions when combined with the rotation about said shoulder shaft axis.  
     
     
         14 . The toy action figure according to  claim 10 , wherein said hip detent system comprises: 
 a detent cage mounted within the body of the action figure and having a central hole and at least one protrusion; and    a hip shaft having one end, and opposing end and a spur gear mounted between said ends, said one end being inserted into said central hole of said detent cage such that said spur gear engages said at least one protrusion.    
     
     
         15 . The action figure according to  claim 14 , wherein said opposing end of said hip shaft comprises a keyed portion for connected to a leg of the action figure.
