Abstract

A screed assembly apparatus for loose or plastic materials such as placed and/or poured, uncured concrete previously placed on the ground or another support surface, includes a screed frame, and mounted thereon, a striker for engaging and spreading the materials and a rotatable auger for moving the material longitudinally along the screed frame. The auger provides a pair of intertwined spiral flight coils. The striker is spaced to one side of the auger and in parallel thereto. An auger mounting means and a motive power means are engaged for rotating the auger to remove excess portions of the concrete from the pour.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A screed assembly apparatus for loose or plastic materials such as placed and/or poured, uncured concrete previously placed on the ground or another support surface, said apparatus comprising: a screed frame, and mounted thereon, a striker for engaging and spreading the materials and a rotatable auger for moving the material longitudinally along the screed frame, the auger providing a pair of intertwined spiral flight coils, the striker spaced to one side of the auger and in parallel thereto; auger mounting means; and motive power means engaged for rotating the auger.

2 . A screeding auger comprising: a cylindrical body supporting on an outer surface thereof, dual intertwined spiral flight coils extensive between ends of the cylindrical body, and a pair of end blocks fixed in ends of the cylindrical body, the end blocks providing longitudinally extensive opposing rods having means for keyed engagement therein.

3 . A screeding method for loose or plastic materials such as placed and/or poured, uncured concrete previously placed on the ground or another support surface, the method comprising the steps of: mounting a striker and a rotatable cylinder in parallel on a screed frame; intertwining dual spiral flight coils on an outside surface of the cylinder from between ends of the cylinder; positioning the striker spaced to one side of the auger and in parallel thereto; positioning the auger partially immersed in the uncured concrete; and rotating the auger for removal of an excess portion of the concrete while drawing the auger and the striker in a lateral direction.

4 . The screeding method of claim 3 comprising the further steps of fixing a pair of end blocks in ends of the cylindrical body; extending opposing rods from the end blocks longitudinally and engaging keyed apertures in the opposing rods with a motive means for rotating the auger.
