Firearms cleaning kit

Abstract

A new and improved firearm cleaning kit including a housing having a plurality of chambers defining openings and lids for covering the chambers to form seals. Pre-moistened patches impregnated with gun cleaning solvent are disposed in at least one of the chambers and pre-moistened patches impregnated with gun oil can be disposed in at least another one of the chambers. The pre-moistened patches can be accordion folded and joined together at perforations. The invention includes a method of cleaning a gun bore including providing a kit with airtight chambers at least one having patches pre-moistened with gun cleaner and/or gun oil, and running one of the pre-moistened patches through the gun bore.

What is claimed is:  
     
         1 . A gun cleaning kit comprising: 
 a housing;    a plurality of chambers disposed in the housing, the chambers defining openings; and    at least one lid for selectively covering at least one of the openings and adapted to form a seal with the housing for minimizing the escape of odors from the at least one opening.    
     
     
         2 . The gun cleaning kit of  claim 1  further comprising a plurality of patches stored in at least one of the chambers.  
     
     
         3 . The gun cleaning kit of  claim 2  wherein the patches are separated and folded together for easy dispensement.  
     
     
         4 . The gun cleaning kit of  claim 2  wherein the patches are attached to each other with perforations therebetween and are accordion folded to simplify dispensement from the at least one of the chambers.  
     
     
         5 . The gun cleaning kit of  claim 2  wherein the patches are pre-moistened patches impregnated with gun oil.  
     
     
         6 . The gun cleaning kit of  claim 2  wherein the patches are pre-moistened patches impregnated with bore cleaner.  
     
     
         7 . The gun cleaning kit of  claim 1  further comprising a plurality of rods stored in at least one of the chambers.  
     
     
         8 . The gun cleaning kit of  claim 1  further comprising a plurality of brushes stored in at least one of the chambers.  
     
     
         9 . The gun cleaning kit of  claim 1  further comprising a plurality of jags stored in at least one of the chambers.  
     
     
         10 . The gun cleaning kit of  claim 1  wherein the lid is attached to the housing when not covering the at least one of the openings.  
     
     
         11 . A gun cleaning kit comprising: 
 a housing defining a first chamber and a second chamber;    a lid attached to the housing and adapted to selectively close the first chamber; and    an internal wall disposed in the housing for providing an impervious barrier between the first chamber and the second chamber.    
     
     
         12 . The gun cleaning kit of  claim 11  wherein the lid and/or the housing is adapted to seal the first chamber to minimize fumes from escaping the first chamber and inhibit evaporation therefrom.  
     
     
         13 . The gun cleaning kit of  claim 12  wherein the lid and/or the housing is adapted to provide an audible indication of when the lid forms the seal to minimize fumes from escaping the first chamber.  
     
     
         14 . The gun cleaning kit of  claim 12  wherein the first chamber is adapted to store a plurality of patches.  
     
     
         15 . The gun cleaning kit of  claim 14  wherein the patches are pre-moistened patches impregnated with gun oil.  
     
     
         16 . The gun cleaning kit of  claim 14  wherein the patches are pre-moistened patches impregnated with bore cleaner.  
     
     
         17 . The gun cleaning kit of  claim 11  further comprising means for attaching the kit to a hunter's belt attached to the housing.  
     
     
         18 . A method of cleaning a bore of a gun comprising: 
 providing a kit having chambers with sealing lids and pre-moistened patches disposed in at least one of the chambers;    removing a sealing lid from a chamber;    removing a patch from the chamber;    running the patch through a bore of the gun; and    replacing the lid to seal the chamber and minimize the release of odors.    
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 18  wherein the patch is a pre-moistened patch impregnated with bore cleaner.  
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 18  wherein the patch is a pre-moistened patch impregnated with gun oil.
