Abstract
A decorative border assembly that makes it easy to change the decorative pattern is provided. The decorative border assembly beneficially includes one or more mounting strips with mounting notches, and spaced apart retaining channels for removably retaining the mounting strips.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A decorative border assembly comprising spaced apart retaining channels to be mounted to a suitable support surface, and at least one mounting strip to which a decorative pattern is applied, wherein said at least one mounting strip is dimensionally sized to be removably retained by said mounted spaced apart retaining channels, and said at least one mounting strip comprises a first edge provided with a first plurality of horizontally spaced apart mounting notches limited in depth so as to be concealed from view when said mounting strip is removably retained by said mounted spaced apart retaining channels.
. The decorative border assembly of claim 1 , wherein at least one elongated molding strip to be mounted to a wall, comprises a pair of spaced apart channeled rails that provide said spaced apart retaining channels.
. The decorative border assembly of claim 2 , wherein said at least one elongated molding strip comprises a generally planar backing plate.
. The decorative border assembly of claim 1 , wherein said retaining channels are of unequal depth.
. The decorative border assembly of claim 2 , wherein said at least one mounting strip has a width that dimensionally exceeds the distance between said pair of spaced apart channeled rails, and one of said spaced apart retaining channels, has a depth sufficient to receive the excess width.
. The decorative border assembly of claim 1 , wherein said at least one mounting strip is provided with a second plurality of horizontally spaced apart mounting notches along its opposite edge.
. The decorative border assembly of claim 6 , wherein said first plurality of mounting notches and second plurality of mounting notches are generally vertically aligned.
. The decorative border assembly of claim 1 , wherein said at least one mounting strip comprises a face to which a decorative pattern has been applied, and said mounting strip is of greater width than said decorative pattern.
. The decorative border assembly of claim 8 , wherein said at least one mounting strip further comprises a decorative pattern applied to its reverse face.
. The decorative border assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a corner piece, wherein said corner piece comprises upper and lower edges to be retained by said mounted spaced apart retaining channels.
. The decorative border assembly of claim 10 , wherein said corner piece, when mounted, gives the decorative look of a projecting cylinder.
. The decorative border assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a corner piece that comprises a corner portion and spaced apart retaining channels that extend from said corner portion, wherein said corner portion comprises a side provided with a suitably dimensioned slot for receiving an end of said mounting strip.
. The decorative border assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a corner piece that comprises a side for butting against the ends of said spaced apart retaining channels, wherein said side comprises a suitably dimensioned slot for receiving an end of said mounting strip.
. The decorative border assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a corner piece that comprises a side for butting against the ends of said spaced apart retaining channels, wherein said side comprises a suitably sized slot for receiving an end of said mounting strip when mounting said mounting strip, and for further receiving said mounting strip end when demounting said mounting strip.
. A decorative border assembly comprising spaced apart retaining channels mounted to a wall, and at least one patterned strip with a pair of opposite edges provided with a plurality of horizontally spaced apart mounting notches, wherein said mounting notches are limited in depth so as to be concealed from view when said edges are disposed within said retaining channels, and said at least one patterned strip is removably retained by said spaced apart retaining channels.
. The decorative border assembly of claim 15 , wherein a pair of spaced apart channeled rails provide said spaced apart retaining channels, wherein said at least one patterned strip has a width that dimensionally exceeds the distance between said pair of spaced apart channeled rails, and wherein one of said spaced apart retaining channels has a depth sufficient to receive the excess width.
. A method of mounting a decorative border assembly to a wall and thereafter at an appropriate time, demounting at least one elongated patterned strip comprising opposite edges provided with a plurality of horizontally spaced apart mounting notches, said method comprising mounting retaining channels to said wall in a spaced apart relationship, consecutively face mounting edge sections of said at least one elongated patterned strip disposed adjacent to and between said spaced apart mounting notches, by inserting said edge sections into said retaining channels, and thereafter at an appropriate time demounting said elongated patterned strip by consecutively withdrawing said edge sections from said retaining channels until said elongated patterned strip is fully demounted.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
