Abstract

The invention relates to the use of an IL-6R/IL-6 chimera, a mutein, isoform, fused protein, functional derivative, active fraction or circularly permutated derivative or a salt thereof, for the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment and/or prevention of Huntington's disease.

1 . Use of an IL-6R/IL-6 chimera, a mutein, isoform, fused protein, functional derivative, active fraction or circularly permutated derivative or a salt thereof, for the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment and/or prevention of Huntington's disease.  
     
     
         2 . Use according to  claim 1 , wherein the IL-6R/IL-6 chimera is glycosylated at one or more sites.  
     
     
         3 . Use according to  claim 1 , wherein the IL-6R/IL-6 chimera is not glycosylated.  
     
     
         4 . Use according to any of  claims 1  to  3 , wherein the fused protein comprises an immunoglobulin (Ig) fusion.  
     
     
         5 . Use according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the functional derivative comprises at least one moiety attached to one or more functional groups which occur as one or more side chains on the amino acid residues.  
     
     
         6 . Use according to  claim 6 , wherein the moiety is a polyethylene moiety.  
     
     
         7 . Use of a cell expressing an IL-6R/IL-6 chimera, a mutein, isoform, fused protein, active fraction or circularly permutated derivative thereof, for the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment and/or prevention of Huntington's disease.  
     
     
         8 . Use of an expression vector comprising the coding sequence of an IL-6R/IL-6 chimera, a mutein, isoform, fused protein, active fraction or circularly permutated derivative thereof, for the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment and/or prevention of Huntington's disease.  
     
     
         9 . Use according to  claim 8 , wherein the vector is a lentiviral vector.  
     
     
         10 . Pharmaceutical composition comprising a cell expressing an IL-6R/IL-6 chimera, a mutein, isoform, fused protein, active fraction or circularly permutated derivative thereof, optionally together with one or more pharmaceutically acceptable carriers, diluents or excipients, for the treatment and/or prevention of Huntington's disease.  
     
     
         11 . Pharmaceutical composition comprising an expression vector comprising the coding sequence of an IL-6R/IL-6 chimera, a mutein, isoform, fused protein, active fraction or circularly permutated derivative thereof, optionally together with one or more pharmaceutically acceptable carriers, diluents or excipients, for the treatment and/or prevention of Huntington's disease.  
     
     
         12 . A method for treating and/or preventing Huntington's disease, comprising administering to a patient in need thereof an effective amount of an IL-6R/IL-6 chimera, a mutein, isoform, fused protein, functional derivative, active fraction, circularly permutated derivative or a salt thereof, optionally together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
