Abstract
In a folding bed with a central dolly, the dolly comprises two separate parts that can be assembled together: a trestle made of a shaped tubular bar which forms two side shoulders and base sections, and two box members of plastic material that are mounted and snap fastened on the trestle shoulders and that are equipped at their ends with seats for the pivotal connection of side parts of the folding bed.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat I claim is:
1 . A folding bed comprising: a central dolly; two side parts pivotally connected to said central dolly at opposite sides thereof and pivotable between a horizontal position, in an unfolded or open condition of the bed, and an upright position in a folded or closed condition of the bed; and means associated with said dolly and said side parts for defining a bed plane in open condition of the bed, wherein said dolly is associated with box members removably mounted on top of the dolly and provided with seats for the pivotal connection of the side parts of the folding bed.
2 . A folding bed according to claim 1 , wherein said box members are snap coupled on top of the dolly.
3 . A folding bed according to claim 2 , wherein said box members are made of a resiliently yielding plastic material.
4 . Folding bed according to claim 3 , wherein said box members of plastic material are molded members.
5 . A folding bed according to claim 1 , wherein said central dolly consists of a trestle made of a single section of tubular bar forming two side members on top of which said box members are mounted, and two base sections connecting said side members and to which wheels are applied.
6 . A folding bed according to claim 5 , wherein the top of said side members of the trestle have such shapes and sizes as to allow snap coupling of the box members with said shoulders.
7 . A folding bed according to claim 6 , wherein said box members have side extensions projecting from the side members of the trestle and provided with end recesses forming seats for the pivotal connection of side parts of the bed.
8 . A folding bed according to claim 7 , wherein the trestle is shaped so as to form a stackable unit.
9 . A folding bed according to claim 1 , wherein the means for defining a bed plane are removably connected with the box members and with frames of said side parts.
10 . A folding bed according to claim 1 , wherein the side parts of the bed are removably coupled with said box members.
11 . A method of assembling a folding bed including a central dolly consisting of a trestle having side members, and two side parts pivotally connected to said central dolly at opposite sides thereof, comprising the steps of: fitting onto the side members of the trestle respective box members provided with seats for the pivotal connection of said side parts of the bed; placing into said seats bored terminations of frames of the side parts of the bed; mounting into aligned bores of said box members and said bored terminations pivot pins suitable for removable connection of said bored terminations and said box members.
12 . A method according to claim 11 , further comprising the step of removably mounting, on top of said box members and on said frames, means defining a bed plane in open condition of the bed.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
