Abstract
The present invention is directed to a method of treating a patient with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis using an effective amount of soluble Fcγ receptors. The soluble Fcγ receptors of the invention are specific for immunoglobulin G of under-class 1 (IgG1) and/or 3 (IgG3).

1 . A method of treating a patient with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, said method comprising the steps of:
(a) administering to a patient with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis an effective amount of soluble Fcγ receptors, wherein said soluble Fcγ receptors bind to immunoglobulins in said patient to treat amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said soluble Fcγ receptors are FcγRIII receptors.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said immunoglobulins are immunoglobulins G of under-class 1 (IgG1) and/or 3 (IgG3).
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said Fcγ receptors are administered at a concentration of between 10 and 60 μmol.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said administering is by infusion or injection.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein said soluble Fcγ receptors binds to IgG1 to block FcγRIII receptor activity.
