Abstract
A ski having a sliding layer with ski edges, arranged on the bottom side, as well as of the core, above which a covering layer is placed, which extends over the top surface and if appropriate also over the side surfaces, is according to the invention essentially improved with respect to resistance against wear and mechanical damage without jeopardizing safety of the user. Reinforcing profiles are incorporated within the ski at least in the area of longitudinally extending top edges adjacent to the top surface or within the top surface, at least in the most exposed area on the forward portion of the ski between the tip and the ski binding, as well as on the tail of the ski. By this, the visual appearance of the ski remains essentially unchanged.

1 . A ski comprising:
a sliding layer ( 1 ) and longitudinal ski edges ( 2 ′, 2 ″) on the ski's bottom surface faced towards the ground, while above the sliding layer ( 1 ) there is a core ( 3 ), and above the core ( 3 ) there is a covering layer ( 4 ) extending over the top surface ( 5 ) and over the side surfaces ( 6 ′, 6 ″) of the ski, such that top edges ( 7 ′, 7 ″) are located between the top surface ( 5 ) and the side surfaces ( 6 ′, 6 ″), characterized in that at least in the area of exposure to wearing or mechanical damages on the top surface ( 5 ) of the ski and the top edges ( 7 ′, 7 ″), at least on the forward portion between the tip and the ski binding area, as well as on the rearward portion, below the covering layer ( 4 ) in the area of each corresponding top edge ( 7 ′, 7 ″) or at least in its adjacency, at least one reinforcing profile ( 8 ′, 8 ″) extending in the longitudinal direction of the ski along at least a portion of the top edge ( 7 ′, 7 ″) said ski being resistant to wear and mechanical damage resulting from coming into contact with ski edges ( 2 ′, 3 ″) of another ski.
2 . Ski according to claim 1 , wherein the outward surface ( 80 ′, 80 ″) of each reinforcing profile ( 8 ′, 8 ″) is inclined, and the covering layer ( 4 ) is interrupted in the area of the top edges ( 7 ′, 7 ″) of the ski.
3 . Ski according to claim 1 , wherein the outward surface ( 80 ′, 80 ″) of each reinforcing profile ( 8 ′, 8 ″) is rounded, and the covering layer ( 4 ) is interrupted in the area of the top edges ( 7 ′, 7 ″) of the ski.
4 . Ski according to claim 2 , wherein the outward surface ( 80 ′, 80 ″) of each reinforcing profile ( 8 ′, 8 ″) in form of an ordinary ski edge is inclined, and the covering layer ( 4 ) is interrupted in the area of the top edges ( 7 ′, 7 ″) of the ski.
5 . Ski according to claim 3 , wherein the outward surface ( 80 ′, 80 ″) of each reinforcing profile ( 8 ′, 8 ″) in form of an ordinary ski edge is rounded, and the covering layer ( 4 ) is interrupted in the area of the top edges ( 7 ′, 7 ″) of the ski.
6 . Ski according to claim 1 , wherein the reinforcing profile ( 8 ′, 8 ″) is a U-profile, comprising substantially parallel flanges ( 82 , 83 ) as well as of a web ( 81 ) the outward surface of which is rounded at least on the upper side thereof.
7 . Ski according to claim 6 , wherein the covering layer ( 4 ) is furnished with one reinforcing profile ( 8 ′, 8 ″) in the area of each of its longitudinal edges ( 40 ′, 40 ″) by means of inserting thereof between the flanges ( 82 , 83 ) of each corresponding reinforcing profile ( 8 ′, 8 ″).

Ski according to claim 6 , wherein each reinforcing profile ( 8 ′, 8 ″) is inserted by means of its flange ( 83 ) into a recess ( 90 ′, 90 ″), located between each corresponding side covering layer ( 9 ′, 9 ″) extending along the side surface ( 6 ′, 6 ″) of the ski, and the top covering layer ( 4 ), while the top flange ( 82 ) is placed above the top covering layer ( 4 ).
9 . Ski according to claim 1 , wherein the covering layer ( 4 ) is located below the highest surface of the reinforcing profiles ( 8 ′, 8 ″).
