Abstract

A method and apparatus for covering portions of an object having an outer peripheral surface with a sheet of material having an upper surface and a lower surface with a pressure-sensitive adhesive on at least a portion of the lower surface by wrapping the sheet of material about portions of the outer peripheral surface and positioning the sheet of material so that the pressure-sensitive coating either contacts portions of the outer peripheral surface of the object and is bonded thereto or contacts overlapping portions of the sheet of material and is bonded to other adjacent portions of the sheet of material having the pressure-sensitive coating thereon or overlapping portions of the sheet of material are bonded by the pressure-sensitive adhesive.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . An individual wrapper for covering a pot containing a floral grouping, the pot having an outer peripheral surface, a lower end, an open upper end and a floral containing space, the wrapper comprising:
a sheet of material having a first side, a second side, and a first end, and a pressure sensitive adhesive disposed on at least a portion of one surface thereof; and a sheet extension extending from the first end of the sheet of material and detachable from the sheet of material via perforations which extend entirely from the first side to the second side, and wherein when the sheet of material is formed about the outer peripheral surface of the pot, portions of the sheet of material overlap and are bondingly connected via the pressure sensitive adhesive, and wherein when the sheet of material is formed about the pot, the sheet extension is formed about the floral grouping, and wherein the sheet of material is not formed into a container having an inner space prior to being formed about the pot.

2 . The wrapper of claim 1 wherein the sheet of material and the sheet extension are constructed of a material selected from the group of material consisting of foil, cellophane, processed organic polymeric film and combinations thereof.

3 . The wrapper of claim 1 wherein the sheet of material and the sheet extension have a thickness in a range of from about 1.0 mil to about 20 mils.

4 . The wrapper of claim 1 wherein the sheet of material and the sheet extension are cut from a roll of material.

5 . The wrapper of claim 1 wherein the pressure sensitive adhesive is applied to portions of an upper surface of the sheet of material as the sheet of material and the sheet extension are unrolled from the roll of material.

6 . The wrapper of claim 1 wherein the sheet extension is defined as being sized for encompassing an upper end portion of the floral grouping and wherein the sheet extension is provided with a bonding material on an upper surface thereof for bondingly closing an upper end of the sheet extension above the floral grouping.
