Garbage storage device for positioning flush against a wall

Abstract

A garbage storage device includes a base with a flat back, an external bin mounted on the base and formed with a flat back in flush with that of the base, a internal bin received in the external bin and formed with a recessed back defining a space together with the flat back of the external bin, a pedal pivotally mounted on the base or the internal bin, a hinge mounted on the internal bin and formed with a flat back in flush with that of the base, a lid pivotally connected with the hinge and a lever connected between the pedal and the lid and received in the space defined between the flat back of the external bin and the recessed back of the internal bin. In an aspect, the pedal is mounted on the base. The pedal is an elongated element including a first end and a second end, and is substantially within the base except for its first end extending through an aperture defined in a front portion of the base. The garbage storage device may include a handle with an intermediate portion and two terminal portions transversely extending from the intermediate portion. The terminal portions of the handle are movably inserted in the hinge between an extended position for use and a concealed position when idle.

A garbage storage device ( 2 ) including a base ( 4 ) with a flat back, a bin ( 7 ) being mounted on the base ( 4 ) and including a flat back ( 14 ) in flush with that of the base ( 4 ), a pedal ( 6 ) mounted on one of the base ( 4 ) and the internal bin ( 8 ), a hinge ( 10 ) being mounted on the internal bin ( 8 ) and including a flat back in flush with that of the base ( 4 ), a lid ( 12 ) pivotally connected with the hinge ( 10 ) and a lever ( 18 ) being connected between the pedal ( 6 ) and the lid ( 12 ) and received in the bin ( 7 ).  
     
     
         2 . The garbage storage device ( 2 ) according to  claim 1  including an internal bin ( 8 ) received in the external bin ( 7 ).  
     
     
         3 . The garbage storage device ( 2 ) according to  claim 2  wherein the internal bin ( 8 ) includes a recessed back ( 20 ) for defining a space together with the flat back ( 14 ) of the external bin ( 7 ) for receiving the lever ( 18 ).  
     
     
         4 . The garbage storage device ( 2 ) according to  claim 1  wherein the pedal ( 6 ) is mounted on the base ( 4 ).

The garbage storage device ( 2 ) according to  claim 4  wherein the pedal ( 6 ) is an elongated element including a first end and a second end, and is substantially within the base ( 4 ) except for its first end extending through an aperture defined in a front portion of the base ( 4 ).

The garbage storage device ( 2 ) according to  claim 1  including a handle ( 22 ) with an intermediate portion and two terminal portions transversely extending from the intermediate portion, the terminal portions of the handle ( 22 ) being movably inserted in the hinge ( 10 ) between an extended position for use and a concealed position when idle.  
     
     
         7 . The garbage storage device ( 2 ) according to  claim 6  wherein the hinge ( 10 ) defines a recess  24  in a top face so as to facilitate manipulation of the handle ( 22 ).  
     
     
         8 . The garbage storage device ( 2 ) according to  claim 7  wherein the lid ( 12 ) defines a recess ( 26 ) in a top face, and the recesses ( 24 ;  26 ) make a circular recess so as to facilitate manipulation of the handle ( 22 ).  
     
     
         9 . The garbage storage device ( 2 ) according to  claim 7  wherein the lid ( 12 ) defines a recess ( 26 ) in a top face, and the recesses ( 24 ;  26 ) make an oval recess so as to facilitate manipulation of the handle ( 22 ).

A garbage storage device ( 2 ) including a base ( 4 ), a internal bin ( 8 ) mounted on the base ( 4 ), a pedal ( 6 ) mounted on one of the base ( 4 ) and the internal bin ( 8 ), a hinge ( 10 ) mounted on the base ( 4 ), a lid ( 12 ) pivotally connected with the hinge ( 10 ), a lever ( 18 ) connected between the pedal ( 6 ) and the lid ( 12 ) and a handle ( 22 ) including an intermediate portion and two terminal portions transversely extending from the intermediate portion, the terminal portions of the handle ( 22 ) being movably inserted in the hinge ( 10 ) between an extended position for use and a concealed position when idle.  
     
     
         11 . The garbage storage device ( 2 ) according to  claim 10  wherein the hinge ( 10 ) defines a recess  24  in a top face so as to facilitate manipulation of the handle  22 .  
     
     
         12 . The garbage storage device ( 2 ) according to  claim 10  wherein the lid ( 12 ) defines a recess ( 26 ) in a top face, and the recesses ( 24 ;  26 ) make a circular recess so as to facilitate manipulation of the handle ( 22 ).
