Device for performing leg and foot stretching exercises

Abstract

The present invention is a device supported on a floor for use by a person to perform leg stretching exercises for the person's leg and foot. In one embodiment, the device comprises upper and lower bracket members. The device further comprises first, second, and third support members each having a lower end portion, a median portion, and an upper end portion. Each of the upper end portions and each of the lower end portions are moveably engaged with the upper bracket member and the lower bracket member, respectively, between a closed position where the first, second, and third support members are substantially folded and an open position where the first, second, and third support members are spaced from each other for placement in stable engagement with the floor. The device further comprises a plurality of mounting portions disposed upon the median portion of one or all of the first, second, and third support members. The device further comprises first, second, and third leg support members removably engageable by the person to one of said plurality of mounting portions of said first, second or third support members to support the person's leg. The device further comprises first, second, and third foot stand portions having a first portion engaged with said first, second, and third support members, respectively, a second portion adapted to support the person's foot, and a third portion engaged with the floor to provide additional stability. The device further comprises first, second, and third handle portions engaged with the first, second, and third support members, respectively, and are adapted to be held by the person.

What is claimed is:  
     
         1 . A device supported on a floor for use by a person to perform leg stretching exercises for the person's leg and foot, the device comprising: upper and lower bracket members; first, second, and third support members each having a lower end portion, a median portion, and an upper end portion; each of said upper end portions and each of said lower end portions being moveably engaged with said upper bracket member and said lower bracket member, respectively, between a closed position where said first, second, and third support members are substantially folded and an open position where said first, second, and third support members are spaced from each other for placement in stable engagement with the floor; a plurality of mounting portions disposed upon said median portion of said first support member; and a first leg support member removably engageable by the person to one of said plurality of mounting portions of said first support member to support the person's leg.  
     
     
         2 . The device of  claim 1 , further comprising a first foot stand portion having a first portion engaged with said first support member, a second portion adapted to support the person's foot, and a third portion engaged with the floor to provide additional stability.  
     
     
         3 . The device of  claim 2 , further comprising a first handle portion engaged with said first support member and adapted to be held by the person.  
     
     
         4 . The device of  claim 3 , further comprising a wheel unit engaged with one of said first, second or third support members; said wheel unit comprising a wheel member engageable with the floor to allow the person to transport the device.  
     
     
         5 . The device of  claim 4 , further comprising a first base support member having a first portion engaged with said lower end portion of said first support member and a bottom portion engageable with the floor to provide additional stability to the device in said open position.  
     
     
         6 . The device of  claim 5 , further comprising a first base interconnect member having a first end portion engaged with said lower end portion of said first support member and a second portion engageable with the floor in said open position.  
     
     
         7 . The device of  claim 6 , further comprising a second leg support member adapted to support the leg of the person and a plurality of mounting portion disposed upon said median portion of said second support member; said second leg support member being removably engageable by the person to one of said plurality of said mounting portions of said second support member.  
     
     
         8 . The device of  claim 7 , further comprising second handle portion engaged with said second support member and adapted to be held by the person.  
     
     
         9 . The device of  claim 8 , further comprising a second foot stand portion having a first portion engaged with said second support member, a second portion adapted to support the person's foot, and a third portion engaged with the floor to provide additional stability.  
     
     
         10 . The device of  claim 9 , further comprising a second base support member having a first portion engaged with said lower end portion of said second support member and a bottom portion engageable with the floor to provide additional stability to the device in said open position.  
     
     
         11 . The device of  claim 10 , further comprising a second base interconnect member having a first end portion engaged with said lower end portion of said second support member and a second portion engageable with the floor in said open position.  
     
     
         12 . The device of  claim 11 , further comprising a third leg support member adapted to support the leg of the person and a plurality of mounting portions disposed upon said median portion of said third support member; said third leg support member is removably engageable by the person to one of said plurality of mounting portions of said third support member.  
     
     
         13 . The device of  claim 12 , further comprising a third handle portion engaged with said third support member and adapted to be held by the person.  
     
     
         14 . The device of  claim 13 , further comprising a third foot stand portion having a first portion engaged with said third support member, a second portion adapted to support the person's foot, and a third portion engaged with the floor to provide additional stability.  
     
     
         15 . The device of  claim 14 , further comprising a third base support member having a first portion engaged with said lower end portion of said third support member and a bottom portion engageable with the floor to provide additional stability to the device in said open position.  
     
     
         16 . The device of  claim 15 , further comprising a third base interconnect member having a first end portion engaged with said lower end portion of said third support member and a second portion engageable with the floor in said open position.  
     
     
         17 . The device of  claim 16 , wherein each of said first, second, and third support members are rotatably engaged with said upper bracket member.  
     
     
         18 . The device of  claim 17 , wherein each of said first, second, and third base interconnect members is rotatably engaged with said first, second, and third support members, respectively, and said lower bracket member.  
     
     
         19 . The device of  claim 18 , wherein each of said first, second, and third support members are of elongated shape.  
     
     
         20 . The device of  claim 19 , wherein each of said first, second, and third leg support members are of arcuate shape and said bottom portion of each of said first, second, and third base support members are substantially planar.
