Abstract
A non-cupping heel cushion for a shoe with one or more upper terraces with internal cavities with following lower terraces having a larger area than the one above wherein the upper terraces are subsumed sequentially by the lower larger terraces.

1 . In a shoe a non-cupping cushion comprising:
a pyramidal terraced cushion with an upper terrace of one area; and at least one lower terrace connected to the upper terrace, the at least one lower terrace having a larger area than the upper terrace wherein, in response to pressure, the upper terrace is subsumed by the approximate larger area of the at least one lower terrace.
2 . The non-cupping cushion of claim 1 wherein the terraces are elliptical terraces.
3 . The non-cupping cushion of claim 1 wherein the terraces are oblique terraces.
4 . The non-cupping cushion of claim 1 wherein the terraces are elliptical, oblique terraces.
5 . The non-cupping cushion of claim 1 wherein the terraces are formed of elastic material with a durometer strength selected according to the amount of pressure to be applied.
6 . The non-cupping cushion of claim 1 wherein the upper terrace includes a cavity.
7 . The non-cupping cushion of claim 1 wherein the at least one lower terrace includes a cavity.
