Abstract

A storage device includes a generally enclosed body including inner and outer areas. The inner area includes axially adjustable shelves for dividing the inner area into adjustable compartments, and the outer area includes a plurality of pockets disposed along a periphery of the body for facilitating storage of shoes within the pockets. A release mechanism provides and prevents access to the inner area when in respective opened and closed configurations. A connection mechanism is disposed adjacent a top of the body and affixable to a complementary connector to allow the storage device to be hung and thereby permit axial extension of the body when in a hung configuration and otherwise permit collapse of the body. In other configurations, instead of adjustable shelves, the storage device may include an independently rotatable inner body including a plurality of pockets, or individual shoe storage bodies mounted on rails.

a generally enclosed body including an inner area and an outer area, said inner area including at least one axially adjustable shelf for dividing said inner area into at least one adjustable compartment, said outer area including a plurality of pockets disposed along a periphery of said body for facilitating storage of shoes and other articles within said pockets; a release mechanism for providing and preventing access to said inner area when in respective opened and closed configurations; and a connection mechanism disposed adjacent a top of said body to facilitate suspension of said storage device from a complementary connector and thereby permit axial expansion of said body when in a hung configuration and otherwise permit collapse of said body.

2 . A storage device according to claim 1 , a cross-section along a longitudinal length of said body being one of circular, square, rectangular, oval and a geometric shape including a plurality of sides.

3 . A storage device according to claim 1 , an inner surface of said body including a plurality of internally disposed knots mounted therein, said knots permitting at least one peripheral area of said shelf to rest thereon and thereby permitting retention of said shelf at least at one predetermined distance from a bottom end of said body.

4 . A storage device according to claim 1 , said inner area of said body including a plurality of cords having knots mounted thereon, said knots permitting at least one peripheral area of said shelf to rest thereon and thereby permitting retention of said shelf at least at one predetermined distance from a bottom end of said body.

5 . A storage device according to claim 1 , an inner surface of said body and at least one peripheral area of said shelf including at least one VELCRO strip mounted thereon, said VELCRO strips thereby permitting affixation of said shelf to said inner surface and also permitting retention of said shelf at least at one predetermined distance from a bottom end of said body.

         6 . A storage device according to claim 1 , further comprising:
at least one removable pocket including a VELCRO strip mounted thereon and being removably affixable to at least one complementary VELCRO strip mounted on at least one of inner and outer surfaces of said body.

7 . A storage device according to claim 1 , said inner area of said body including a plurality of cords having cord restraints provided thereon, said cords being threaded through holes in said shelf, said cord restraints permitting said shelf to rest thereon and thereby permitting retention of said shelf at least at one predetermined distance from a bottom end of said body.

8 . A storage device according to claim 1 , said inner area of said body including a plurality of cords threaded through holes in said shelf and being frictionally retained within said holes, said cords thereby permitting retention of said shelf at least at one predetermined distance from a bottom end of said body.

9 . A storage device according to claim 1 , said body including a plurality of holes and said shelf including a plurality of hooks disposed at a peripheral area thereof, said hooks being engageable with said holes to thereby permit retention of said shelf at least at one predetermined distance from a bottom end of said body.

         10 . A storage device according to claim 1 , further comprising:
a cord extending from said top to a bottom end of said body and being threaded through a generally centrally disposed hole in said shelf for thereby guiding axial movement of said shelf along a longitudinal length of said body.

11 . A storage device according to claim 10 , said shelf including a radially extending slot from said hole to a peripheral edge of said shelf for permitting insertion of said cord from said edge.

12 . A storage device according to claim 1 , said release mechanism being at least one of:
at least one zipper, a plurality of buttons, and at least one VELCRO strip.

13 . A storage device according to claim 1 , said connection mechanism being a swivel hook removably engageable with the complementary connector.

14 . A storage device according to claim 1 , said storage device being made of at least one of clear vinyl, polyester mesh, cotton, canvas, khaki, plastic, metal, wood and ceramic.

         15 . A storage device comprising:
a generally enclosed body including an inner area and an outer area, said inner area including at least one independently rotatable inner body including a plurality of pockets and said outer area including a plurality of additional pockets disposed along a periphery of said enclosed body for facilitating storage of shoes and other articles within said pockets; a release mechanism for providing and preventing access to said inner area when in respective opened and closed configurations; and a connection mechanism disposed adjacent a top of said enclosed body to facilitate suspension of said storage device from a complementary connector and thereby permit axial expansion of said enclosed and inner bodies when in a hung configuration and otherwise permit collapse of said enclosed and inner bodies.

16 . A storage device according to claim 15 , a cross-section along a longitudinal length of said enclosed and inner bodies being one of circular, square, rectangular, oval and a geometric shape including a plurality of sides.
