Armchair

Abstract

An armchair includes a frame supported on a base. The frame defines a seat area and a seatback area, with a plurality of elastic cords stretched in the areas of the frame. The armchair is further provided with a pair of armrests arranged on sides of the frame, and a pair of devices for connecting the armrests to the frame. Each of the devices has an upper piece attached to the frame beneath the seat area and a lower piece fastened to the upper piece. The lower piece has an outer end attached to one of the armrests, thereby connecting the respective one of the armrests to the frame.

What is claimed is:  
     
         1 . An armchair comprising: 
 a frame ( 10 ) defining a seat area and a seatback area;    a base ( 20 ) supporting said frame ( 10 );    a plurality of elastic cords ( 30 ) stretched in said seat area and said seatback area;    a pair of armrests ( 50 ) arranged on sides of said frame ( 10 ); and    a pair of devices ( 40 ) for connecting said armrests ( 50 ) to said frame ( 10 );    wherein each of said devices ( 40 ) has an upper piece ( 41 ) attached to said frame ( 10 ) beneath said seat area and a lower piece ( 42 ) fastened to said upper piece ( 41 ), and said lower piece ( 42 ) has an outer end attached to one of said armrests ( 50 ), thereby connecting said one of said armrests ( 50 ) to said frame ( 10 ).    
     
     
         2 . The armchair as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said upper piece ( 41 ) is formed with a raised top portion ( 411 ) and a bottom portion ( 412 ), and wherein said portions ( 411 ,  412 ) of upper piece ( 41 ) are attached to said frame ( 10 ) beneath said seat area.  
     
     
         3 . The armchair as claimed in  claim 2 , wherein said upper piece ( 41 ) has an inclined piece ( 413 ) sloping from said top portion ( 411 ) to said bottom portion ( 412 ).  
     
     
         4 . The armchair as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said lower piece ( 42 ) has a connector ( 421 ) formed on said outer end thereof, and wherein said connector ( 421 ) is attached to said one of said armrests ( 50 ).  
     
     
         5 . The armchair as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said lower piece ( 42 ) is formed with a plurality of oblong holes ( 422 ), and wherein screws extend through said oblong holes ( 422 ) and threadedly engage with said upper piece ( 41 ), thereby allowing said lower piece ( 42 ) and hence said one of said armrests ( 50 ) to be adjustable in the lateral direction of said armchair.  
     
     
         6 . The armchair as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said frame ( 10 ) is supported on said base ( 20 ) in such a manner that said frame ( 10 ) is fixed to said base ( 20 ).  
     
     
         7 . The armchair as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein said frame ( 10 ) is supported on said base ( 20 ) in such a manner that said frame ( 10 ) may swivel on said base ( 20 ).  
     
     
         8 . The armchair as claimed in  claim 7 , wherein said base ( 20 ) is formed with multiple bottom wheels.  
     
     
         9 . The armchair as claimed in  claim 7 , wherein said base ( 20 ) is adapted to lift said frame ( 10 ) pneumatically.
