Abstract
There is provided a new aqueous temperature responsive delivery system made with a temperature responsive polymer and a bioadhesive which is intrinsically cationic. This system may also have an effective amount of a treating agent, which may be a medical or cosmetic agent. The bioadhesive, temperature responsive delivery system is useful in delivering moisturizers or pharmaceutically active agents to the user in controlled release manners, through the tissues in a body cavity.

1 ) An aqueous temperature responsive delivery system comprising a temperature responsive polymer and an intrinsically cationic bioadhesive.
2 ) The system of claim 1 wherein said intrinsically cationic bioadhesive is synthetic and contains at least one ammonium group in a main chain.
3 ) The system of claim 1 wherein said intrinsically cationic bioadhesive is synthetic and contains at least one ammonium group in a pendant group.
4 ) The system of claim 1 wherein said intrinsically cationic bioadhesive is synthetic and contains at least one ammonium group in a side chain.
5 ) The system of claim 1 wherein said intrinsically cationic bioadhesive is a modified natural polymer and contains at least one ammonium group in a main chain.
6 ) The system of claim 1 wherein said intrinsically cationic bioadhesive is a modified natural polymer and contains at least one ammonium group in a pendant group.
7 ) The system of claim 1 wherein said intrinsically cationic bioadhesive is a modified natural polymer and contains at least one ammonium group in a side chain.
8 ) The system of claim 1 further comprising an effective amount of a moisturizer.
9 ) The system of claim 1 further comprising an effective amount of a medicament.
10 ) The system of claim 9 wherein said medicament is selected from the group consisting of medical and cosmetic agents.
11 ) The system of claim 10 wherein said medicament is selected from the group consisting of agents for treating infection and menstruation disorders, agents for treating cardiovascular conditions, agents for treating internal conditions, agents for treating mental health conditions, anti-inflammatory agents, chemotherapeutic agents, cardiac tonics, expectorants, oral antiseptics, enzymes, birth control agents, ophthalmic treating agents and combinations thereof.
12 ) The system of claims 9 wherein said medicament is delivered in a controlled release manner.
13 ) The system of claim 1 further comprising a salt.
14 ) The system of claim 1 wherein said temperature responsive polymer is a thermogelling polymer that is at gel at about 35° C.
15 ) The system of claim 1 wherein said bioadhesive is present in an amount between a positive amount and 20 weight percent and said temperature responsive polymer is present in an amount between about 5 and 50 weight percent.
16 ) The system of claim 1 wherein said bioadhesive is selected from the group consisting of poly(dillyldimethyl ammonium chloride) and poly(dimethylamine-co-epichlorohydrin).
17 ) A temperature responsive delivery system comprising a temperature responsive polymer present in amount between about 8 and 25 weight percent, a bioadhesive which is intrinsically cationic, present in amount between a positive amount and 10 weight percent, and water.
18 ) The system of claim 17 further comprising a salt in the amount between a positive amount and 1.5 weight percent.
