Method of attaching a tubular sleeve to a pot

Abstract

A method of covering a pot containing a floral grouping with a flexible sleeve having a bonding material thereon which connects the sleeve to the pot when the pot is positioned within the sleeve. In one version, the sleeve is positioned about the pot and a lower portion of the sleeve closely surrounds and encompasses the pot, an upper portion of the sleeve extending upwardly from the pot and substantially surrounding and encompassing the floral grouping contained within the pot, at least a portion of the sleeve being removable via the detaching elements, leaving a portion of the sleeve which is a decorative plant cover.

What is claimed is:  
     
         1 . A method of covering a pot having an outer surface, comprising the steps of: 
 providing a decorative cover having an inner retaining space and having an adhesive or cohesive bonding material disposed upon a portion of an inner surface thereof, the inner retaining space occurring in the decorative cover prior to the pot being disposed within decorative cover;    opening the decorative cover to expose the inner retaining space prior to disposing the pot therein; and    disposing the pot within the inner retaining space of the decorative cover, wherein a portion of the decorative cover is positioned adjacent the pot, and bondingly connecting said portion of the decorative cover to the outer surface of the pot via the adhesive or cohesive bonding material on the decorative cover wherein said portion of the decorative cover closely surrounds and encompasses the outer surface of the pot.    
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1  wherein in the step of providing a decorative cover, the decorative cover is further defined as having a first end, a second end, an outer periphery which forms an outer surface, the decorative cover having an opening which intersects both the first and second ends forming an inner surface defined by an inner periphery which forms the inner retaining space.  
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1  wherein in the step of providing a decorative cover, the decorative cover has an opening which intersects the first end and the second end is closed.  
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1  wherein in the step of providing a decorative cover, the decorative cover is constructed from a material selected from the group consisting of untreated or treated paper, foil, polymeric film, woven or unwoven fabric synthetic or natural fabric, burlap, cloth, and any combination thereof.  
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1  wherein in the step of providing a decorative cover, the decorative cover further comprises a thickness in a range of between about 0.1 mil and about 30 mils.  
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1  wherein in the step of providing a decorative cover, the decorative cover further comprises a material having two or more layers.  
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1  wherein in the step of providing a decorative cover, the decorative cover further comprises an extension, the extension having at least one aperture.  
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1  wherein in the step of providing a decorative cover, the decorative cover further comprises a ribbon and a bow.  
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 1  wherein in the step of providing a pot, the pot further comprises an upper end, a lower end, and an outer periphery forming an outer surface, the pot having an opening which intersects the upper end forming an inner surface and defined by an inner periphery which forms a pot retaining space.  
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 1  wherein in the step of providing a pot, the pot is a flower pot.  
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 1  wherein in the step of providing a floral grouping, the floral grouping further comprises the group consisting of growing medium, botanical items, propagules, and any combination thereof.  
     
     
         12 . A method of covering a pot having an outer surface and having an adhesive or cohesive bonding material disposed upon a portion thereof, comprising the steps of: 
 providing a decorative cover having an inner retaining space; wherein the decorative over has the inner retaining space before being applied to the pot;    opening the decorative cover to expose the inner retaining space before the decorative over is applied about the pot; and    disposing the pot within the inner retaining space of the decorative cover, wherein a portion of the decorative cover is positioned adjacent the pot, and bondingly connecting said portion of the decorative cover to the outer surface of the pot via the adhesive or cohesive bonding material on the pot, and wherein said portion of the decorative cover bondingly connected to the pot closely surrounds and encompasses the pot.    
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 12  wherein in the step of providing a decorative cover, the decorative cover is further defined as having a first end, a second end, an outer periphery which forms an outer surface, the decorative cover having an opening which intersects both the first and second end forming an inner surface defined by an inner periphery which forms the inner retaining space.  
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 12  wherein in the step of providing a decorative cover, the decorative cover has an opening which intersects the first end and the second end is closed.  
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 12  wherein in the step of providing a decorative cover, the decorative cover comprises the perforations therein for detaching a portion thereof.  
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 12  wherein in the step of providing a decorative cover, the decorative cover is constructed from a material selected from the group consisting of untreated or treated paper, foil, polymeric film, woven or unwoven fabric, synthetic or natural fabric, burlap, cloth, and any combination thereof.  
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 12  wherein in the step of providing a decorative cover, the decorative cover further comprises a thickness in a range of between about 0.1 mil and about 30 mils.  
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 12  wherein in the step of providing a decorative cover, the decorative cover further comprises a material having two or more layers.  
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 12  wherein in the step of providing a decorative cover, the decorative cover further comprises an extension, the extension having at least one aperture.  
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 12  wherein in the step of providing a decorative cover, the further comprises a ribbon and a bow.  
     
     
         21 . The method of  claim 12  wherein in the step of providing a pot, the pot further comprises an upper end, a lower end, and an outer periphery forming an outer surface, the pot having an opening which intersects the upper end forming an inner surface and defined by an inner periphery which forms a pot retaining space.  
     
     
         22 . The method of  claim 12  wherein in the step of providing a pot, the pot is a flower pot.  
     
     
         23 . The method of  claim 12  wherein in the step of providing a, the decorative cover further comprises a bonding material disposed thereon.  
     
     
         24 . The method of  claim 12  wherein in the step of providing a floral grouping, the floral grouping further comprises the group consisting of growing medium, botanical items, propagules, and any combination thereof.
