Abstract
A fuel additive for improving fuel consumption comprising a fuel stabilizer and an organometallic compound, and may include a dispersant, a biocide, a high flash solvent, a lubricant, and a metal deactivator with a preferred ratio of one part fuel additive for use with 5000 parts of fuel.

1 . A fuel additive comprising:
a fuel stabilizer; and an iron-containing organometallic compound.
2 . The fuel additive of claim 1 wherein said fuel stabilizer comprises a high molecular weight amine.
3 . The fuel additive of claim 1 wherein said high molecular weight amine comprises at least twelve carbon atoms.
4 . The fuel additive of claim 3 said high molecular weight amine comprises between twelve and fourteen carbon atoms.
5 . The fuel additive of claim 3 wherein said high molecular weight amine comprises more than fourteen carbon atoms.
6 . The fuel additive of claim 2 wherein said high molecular weight amine comprises Primene® RB-3.
7 . The fuel additive of claim 1 wherein said fuel stabilizer comprises between approximately 0.05 and approximately 0.5 parts by weight, said fuel additive having a total part by weight of 1.
8 . The fuel additive of claim 7 wherein said fuel stabilizer comprises between approximately 0.2 and approximately 0.5 parts by weight.
9 . The fuel additive of claim 1 further comprising an organometallic compound selected from the group consisting of Mn, Pt, Ce, and mixtures thereof.
10 . The fuel additive of claim 1 wherein said organometallic compound comprises dicyclopentadienyl iron.
11 . The fuel additive of claim 1 wherein said organometallic compound comprises homologues of dicyclopentadienyl iron.
12 . The fuel additive of claim 1 wherein said organometallic compound comprises between approximately 0.0001 and approximately 0.01 parts by weight, said fuel additive having a total part by weight of 1.
13 . The fuel additive of claim 12 wherein said organometallic compound comprises between approximately 0.001 and approximately 0.005 parts by weight.
14 . The fuel additive of claim 1 additionally comprising a high flash solvent.
15 . The fuel additive of claim 14 wherein said solvent comprises naphtha.
16 . The fuel additive of claim 15 wherein said naphtha comprises Conosolve® C-145.
17 . The fuel additive of claim 14 wherein said high flash solvent comprises between approximately 0.1 and approximately 0.6 parts by weight, said fuel additive having a total part by weight of 1.
18 . The fuel additive of claim 17 wherein said high flash solvent comprises between approximately 0.2 and approximately 0.4 parts by weight.
19 . The fuel additive of claim 1 additionally comprising a lubricant.
20 . The fuel additive of claim 19 wherein said lubricant comprises a mineral oil.
21 . The fuel additive of claim 20 wherein said mineral oil is naphthenic.
22 . The fuel additive of claim 19 wherein said lubricant comprises a synthetic oil.
23 . The fuel additive of claim 22 wherein said synthetic oil comprises a petroleum derivative.
24 . The fuel additive of claim 19 wherein said lubricant comprises a low viscosity.
25 . The fuel additive of claim 24 wherein said viscosity is approximately 20 weight or less.
26 . The fuel additive of claim 19 wherein said lubricant comprises between approximately 0.01 and approximately 0.25 parts by weight, said fuel additive having a total part by weight of 1.
27 . The fuel additive of claim 26 wherein said lubricant comprises between approximately 0.03 and approximately 0.1 parts by weight.
28 . The fuel additive of claim 1 additionally comprising a biocide.
29 . The fuel additive of claim 28 wherein said biocide comprises a triazine.
30 . The fuel additive of claim 29 wherein said triazine comprises Vancide®.
31 . The fuel additive of claim 28 wherein said biocide comprises up to approximately 0.5 parts by weight, said fuel additive having a total part by weight of 1.
32 . The fuel additive of claim 31 wherein said biocide comprises between approximately 0.0005 and approximately 0.0015 parts by weight.
33 . The fuel additive of claim 1 additionally comprising a metal deactivator.
34 . The fuel additive of claim 33 wherein said metal deactivator is a polyamine.
35 . The fuel additive of claim 34 wherein said metal deactivator is a diamine.
36 . The fuel additive of claim 35 wherein said diamine comprises at least one amine selected from the group consisting of propane diamine and ethylene diamine.
37 . The fuel additive of claim 33 wherein said metal deactivator comprises up to approximately 0.02 parts by weight, said fuel additive having a total part by weight of 1.
38 . The fuel additive of claim 37 wherein said metal deactivator comprises between approximately 0.05 and approximately 0.15 parts by weight.
39 . The fuel additive of claim 14 additionally comprising a lubricant.
40 . The fuel additive of claim 39 wherein said stabilizer comprises a high molecular weight amine.
41 . The fuel additive of claim 14 additionally comprising a biocide.
42 . The fuel additive of claim 14 additionally comprising a high flash solvent and a metal deactivator.
43 . The fuel additive of claim 19 additionally comprising a lubricant and a biocide.
