Abstract

Polypeptides having galinin receptor activity, genetic material for expressing same, any recombinant cell expressing said polypeptides, and the use thereof, are disclosed.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A nucleotide sequence selected from the group consisting of:
 (a) all or part of the nucleotide sequence SEQ ID No. 1 or of its complementary strand, (b) a sequence hybridizing with a sequence (a) and coding for a polypeptide having galaninergic receptor activity, and (c) the sequences derived from the sequences (a) and (b) as a result of the degeneracy of the genetic code.

2 . A nucleotide sequence according to claim 1 , wherein said sequence encodes a human galaninergic receptor.

3 . An isolated nucleotide sequence comprising all or part of the nucleotide sequence SEQ ID No. 1 or of its complementary strand.

4 . A nucleotide sequence according to claim 1 comprising a region encoding a polypeptide under the control of signals permitting expression of the polypeptide in a cell host.

5 . An isolated polypeptide comprising all or part of the peptide sequence SEQ ID No. 2 or of a derivative thereof.

6 . An isolated polypeptide encoded by a nucleotide sequence selected from the group consisting of
 (a) all or part of the nucleotide sequence SEQ ID No. 1, (b) a sequence hybridizing with a sequence (a) and coding for a polypeptide having galaninergic receptor activity, and (c) nucleotide sequences encoding the amino acid sequences encoded by (a) or (b).

7 . An antisense sequence capable of at least partially inhibiting the production of a polypeptide according to claim 6 .

8 . A polypeptide according to claim 6 possessing galaninergic receptor activity.

9 . A recombinant cell expressing at its surface a polypeptide according to claim 6 .

10 . A cell according to claim 9 , wherein said cell is eukaryotic.

11 . A ligand or modulator for a polypeptide as defined in claim 6 .

12 . A pharmaceutical composition comprising as active principle at least one molecule which acts on a polypeptide according to claim 6 .

13 . A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 12 , wherein the molecule is a ligand or a modulator of said polypeptide.

14 . A method for demonstrating and/or isolating ligands for galaninergic receptors, said method comprising contacting a molecule or a mixture containing different molecules with a recombinant cell according to claim 13 under conditions permitting interaction between the said polypeptide and the said molecule.

15 . A method according to claim 14 , wherein said ligands are agonists and/or antagonists for the galaninergic receptors.

16 . A method for demonstrating and/or isolating modulators for galaninergic receptors, said method comprising contacting a molecule or a mixture containing different molecules with a recombinant cell according to claim 9 under conditions permitting interaction between the said polypeptide and the said molecule.

17 . A diagnostic assay comprising a step of hybridizing a nucleic acid according to claim 1 to a homologous nucleic acid sequence.
