Abstract

A golf club is modified by substantially hollowing out the entire portion or a predominant portion of the club head before purchase. The placement of the position of the weight can now be placed to increase or decrease clockwise spin, counterclockwise spin, and backspin of the golf ball propelled by the club. If the purchaser's golf swing changes, the golfer can get fitted for a new sole plate insert to adjust the weight to achieve a more desirable ball spin for an improved flight of the golf ball.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
I claim:

1 . An adjustable and fixed weight modified golf club comprising:
a shaft having a grip on a proximate end and a weight modified club head on a distal end, the head including a face plate; an interchangeable sole plate; the club head having no top and a bottom surface upon which the sole plate is mounted; and the club head having a hollow center portion to expose an inside region; wherein the amount of the weight added by the sole plate adjusts the total weight of the club head according to the preference of the user.

2 . The golf club according to claim 1 , wherein the hollow portion of the club head extends from the top edge of the face entirely through the club head to form a hollow center portion reaching the sole plate.

3 . The golf club according to claim 1 , wherein said sole plate further comprises a weight of predetermined mass thereon, positioned to be located against and behind said face plate.

4 . The golf club according to claim 1 , wherein said sole plate varies in mass in predetermined fashion so as to provide a club and sole plate combination customized to the needs and preferences of an individual golfer.

5 . The golf club according to claim 4 , wherein said sole plate varies in mass so as to provide a sole plate made of a metal composition, and customized by adjusting the relative proportions in terms of volume and area of said metal composition for an individual golfer.

6 . The golf club according to claim 5 , wherein said sole plate varies in mass so as to provide a sole plate with said metal composition made up of tungsten and titanium, and customized for an individual golfer by adjusting the proportions of said tungsten and titanium in the said metal composition.

7 . The golf club according to claim 1 , wherein said sole plate varies in mass in a predetermined fashion, so as to provide a club head made from the group consisting of metal, epoxy, fiberglass, and wood customized to the needs and preferences of an individual golfer.

8 . The golf club according to claim 1 , wherein said golf club is selected from a group made up of a driver, a sand iron, a putter, and an utility club so as to provide a club and sole plate combination customized to the needs and preferences of an individual golfer.

9 . An adjustable and fixed weight modified golf club head comprising:
a golf club head having a face plate and an interchangeable sole plate; the club head having no top and a bottom surface upon which the sole is mounted; and the club head having a hollow center portion to expose an inside region: wherein the amount of the weight added by the sole plate adjusts the total weight of the club head according to the preference of the user.

9 . The golf club head according to claim 8 , wherein the hollow portion of the club head extends from the top edge of the face entirely through the club head to form a hollow center portion reaching the sole plate.

10 . The golf club head according to claim 8 , wherein said sole plate further comprises a weight of predetermined mass thereon, positioned to be located against and behind said face plate.

11 . The golf club head according to claim 8 , wherein said sole plate varies in mass in a predetermined fashion, so as to provide a club and sole plate combination customized to the needs and preferences of an individual golfer.

12 . The golf club head according to claim 11 , wherein said sole plate varies in mass so as to provide a sole plate made of a metal composition, and customized by adjusting the relative proportions in terms of volume and area of said metal composition for an individual golfer.

13 . The golf club head according to claim 12 , wherein said sole plate varies in mass so as to provide a sole plate with said metal composition made up of tungsten and titanium, and customized for an individual golfer by adjusting the proportions of said tungsten and titanium in the said metal composition.

14 . The golf club head according to claim 9 , wherein said sole plate varies in mass in a predetermined fashion, so as to provide a club head made from the group consisting of metal, epoxy, fiberglass, and wood customized to the needs and preferences of an individual golfer.

15 . The golf club head according to claim 9 , wherein said golf club head is selected from a golf club group made up of a driver, a sand iron, a putter, and an utility club so as to provide a club head and sole plate combination customized to the needs and preferences of an individual golfer.
