Abstract
A deep corrugated structural metal plate having a cold roll formed, uniform uninterrupted short radius of curvature along at least a portion of the plate's length in the range of about 450 mm up to about 3100 mm.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A deep corrugated structural metal plate having a cold roll formed uniform uninterrupted short radius of curvature along at least a portion of said plate's length in the range of about 450 mm up to about 3100 mm.
2 . A corrugated plate of claim 1 , wherein said plate has:
i) a thickness of about 2 mm to about 10 mm; ii) a corrugation pitch of about 230 mm to about 600 mm and a corrugation depth of about 65 mm to about 225 mm.
3 . A corrugated plate of claim 2 , wherein said structural plate of steel has a maximum yield strength of about 379 MPa, a maximum tensile strength of about 538 MPa and a percent elongation of about 25% to 35%.
4 . A corrugated plate of claim 1 , wherein said structural plate of aluminum has a maximum yield strength of about 241 MPa, a maximum tensile strength of about 262 MPa and a percent elongation of about 4% to 15%.
5 . A corrugated plate of claim 2 , wherein said plate is of steel and is uncoated and is blank.
6 . A corrugated plate of claim 2 , wherein said plate is of steel and has prepunched holes about its perimeter and may be galvanized prior to roll forming said curvature.
7 . A corrugated plate of claim 1 , for use as a structural plate in an arch or box culvert, said plate spanning a short radius haunch for an arch or box culvert.
8 . A corrugated plate of claim 7 , wherein said plate has two or three corrugations across its width.
9 . A corrugated plate of claim 7 , wherein said plate has prepunched circular or oval holes for interconnection by fasteners of said plate to other like plates.
10 . A load bearing structure in the form of a culvert, arch or box culvert having a short radius section of about 450 mm to 3100 mm,
said structure being erected by interconnecting deep corrugation structural metal plates; each plate having a predetermined curvature along its length to match a corresponding section of said structure profile; each said plate for said short radius section having a cold roll formed uniform uninterrupted short radius curvature along said plate's length; each of said plates having prepunched holes for receiving fasteners to complete plate interconnection in erecting said structure, said prepunched holes being aligned with complementary prepunched holes in said interconnected plate to facilitate fastener insertion.
11 . A load bearing structure of claim 10 , wherein a second set of reinforcement cold roll formed deep corrugation structural metal plates are secured to said plates forming a first set of plates for said load bearing structure, said second set of reinforcement plates having a cold roll formed uniform uninterrupted curvature along said plate's length to provide thereby a dam along each abutting peaks and troughs of said first and second plates at least for said short radius section of said structure, said dam blocking leakage of concrete slurry form a cavity defined between said first set of structural plates and said second set of plates.
12 . A load bearing structure of claim 11 , wherein said second set of structural plates has prepunched holes which align with said complementary prepunched holes in said first set of structural plates.
13 . A load bearing structure of claim 10 , wherein said cold roll formed plate is of steel and is galvanized prior to roll forming said curvature, said galvanized covering said prepunched holes.
14 . A load bearing structure of claim 1 , wherein said first set of plates and said second set of plates have shear bond connectors which project into said cavities.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
