Abstract

A buoyant recreational device for use in swimming, sunbathing or exercise on a water surface has an annular buoyant frame with an interior opening and a flexible resilient water permeable platform having an outer perimeter edge connected to the interior opening of the frame. The platform is polypropylene fibre fabric with inherent resilient properties and may be connected to the frame with resilient connectors such as springs or bungee cords. The frame is a hollow rotation moulded polyethylene plastic structure, preferably at least seven feet in outer diameter and five feet in inner diameter and capable of supporting the weight of six adult persons resting on the platform while immersed upon a water surface. The frame may include mounting means for attaching accessories such as: an umbrella; a rudder; an anchor; a towline; and a motor, and optionally includes a storage socket or compartment for sun tan oil or beverage containers.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
I claim:

         1 . A buoyant recreational device comprising:
an annular buoyant frame having an interior opening; and a flexible resilient water permeable platform having an outer perimeter edge connected to the interior opening of the frame.

2 . A device according to claim 1 wherein the platform is connected to the frame with resilient connectors.

3 . A device according to claim 2 wherein said connectors comprise one of springs and bungee cords.

4 . A device according to claim 1 wherein the frame is a hollow moulded plastic structure.

5 . A device according to claim 4 wherein the frame is rotation moulded.

6 . A device according to claim 4 wherein the frame is of polyethylene plastic.

7 . A device according to claim 1 wherein the frame is at least seven feet in outer diameter and five feet in inner diameter.

8 . A device according to claim 1 wherein the frame has a buoyant volume capable of supporting the weight of six adult persons resting on the platform while immersed upon a water surface.

9 . A device according to claim 1 wherein the platform is a polypropylene fibre fabric.

10 . A device according to claim 1 wherein the frame includes mounting means for attaching accessories selected from the group consisting of: an umbrella; a rudder; an anchor; a tow line; and a motor.

11 . A device according to claim 1 wherein the frame includes a storage compartment.

12 . A device according to claim 1 further comprising a pillow releasably secured to the frame.
