Abstract
A golf swing training device, in which a golf club or golf club simulating device is propelled by the arms and hands of a person along a desired arcuate trajectory under an optimal amount of muscular force, maintains the hands of the user on a single optimal plane, while allowing the club to travel on a separate plane through a structure containing a plurality of rotational means allowing all necessary anatomically desireable movements.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A swing training device for practicing the propelling by a person's arms and hands of a club along a defined, arcuate trajectory of a given radius, above a ground plane according to said person's given height and arm length, said device comprising:
a stationary frame; a movable elongated structure pivotable about a first axis and carried on said frame, with a second pivotable means at one end, the axis of which is substantially parallel to the said first axis; a second movable structure connecting to said second pivotable means which supports a third pivotable means, the axis of which is substantially perpendicular to the second said axis; a third movable structure supported by the third pivotable means which supports a fourth pivotable means, the axis of which is substantially perpendicular to the third said axis; a means for retaining a club by the third movable structure such that said club can freely rotate about said fourth axis.
2 . The device of claim 1 , wherein a golf club simulating device replaces said club, where said device features a grip, shaft and weighted end.
3 . The device of claim 1 , wherein said assembly comprises a means for adjustably resisting said movements.
4 . The device of claim 1 , wherein said assembly comprises: means for adjusting the height and slant of said trajectory in reference to said ground plane; and means for adjusting the radius of said trajectory.
5 . The device of claim 1 , wherein said club comprises an elongated object having an axis of gravity; and said assembly includes means for rotating said club about said axis.
6 . The device of claim 1 , wherein said first and second axes are not exactly parallel.
7 . A swing training device for practicing the propelling by a person's arms and hands of a sport implement along a defined, arcuate trajectory of a given radius, above a ground plane according to said person's given height and arm length, said device comprising:
a sporting implement; a stationary frame; a movable structure shaped and dimensioned to hold said implement; and an articulated assembly linking said frame to said structure; wherein said articulated assembly is composed, shaped and dimensioned to confine the gripped portion of said implement within a single optimal trajectory during repeated movements imparted to said implement by said person's arms and hands.
8 . The device of claim 7 , wherein said assembly comprises:
a first member height-adjustably secured to said stationary frame; an arm rotatively mounted on said first member about a first oblique axis; means for rotatively mounting said movable structure upon said arm about a second axis spaced apart from, and substantially parallel to said first axis; and means for adjustably varying the distance between said first and second axes.
9 . The device of claim 8 , wherein said implement comprises:
an elongated object having an axis of gravity; and said movable structure comprises means for rotatively mounting said object about said axis of gravity substantially perpendicularly to said first and second axes.
10 . The device of claim 8 , wherein said implement comprises a golf club.
11 . A swing training device which retains the grip portion of a club on a defined, inclined, arcuate trajectory of a given radius, above a ground plane, and allows said club's axis of gravity to travel on a separate arcuate trajectory of different inclination.
12 . A swing training device which retains a club by an articulated structure supporting four degrees of rotation.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
