Claims

Abstract

A multi-function exercise machine is composed of a first base ( 20 ), a pair of swing arms ( 10 ), two reversing elements, an extension rod ( 30 ) and a second base ( 40 ). The swing arms ( 10 ) are pivotally mounted on the first base ( 20 ) and automatically returned to their original position by the reversing elements after they are pulled or pushed, thereby exercising a user's muscles. The extension rod ( 30 ) attached to the first base ( 20 ) is retractable and selectively secured to the second base laterally or vertically to make the exercise machine capable of being used with a variety of different exercises.

What is claimed is:  
     
         1 . A multi-function exercise machine comprising: 
 a first base ( 20 );    a pair of parallel swing arms ( 10 ) with a first end and a second end where the first end is pivotally mounted on the first base ( 20 );.    two reversing elements respectively mounted between each swing arm ( 10 ) and the first base ( 20 ) to provide recovery forces to the swing arms ( 10 );    an extension rod ( 30 ) having a first end secured on the first base ( 20 ); and    a second base ( 40 ) having a first port ( 41 ) defined in a side face and a second port ( 43 ) defined in a top face of the second base ( 40 ), wherein a second end of the extension rod ( 30 ) is able to be detachably mounted in either port ( 41 ,  43 ).    
     
     
         2 . The multi-function exercise machine as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the extension rod ( 30 ) comprises an outer tube ( 31 ) and an inner tube ( 33 ) movably received inside the outer tube ( 31 ).  
     
     
         3 . The multi-function exercise machine as claimed in  claim 2 , wherein the outer tube ( 31 ) has a screw knob ( 311 ) rotatably mounted on the outer tube ( 31 ); and 
 a threaded rod ( 313 ) is formed on the screw knob ( 311 ) to penetrate into the outer tube ( 31 ) to hold the inner tube ( 33 ) in place when the screw knob ( 311 ) is screwed inwardly.    
     
     
         4 . The multi-function exercise machine as claimed in  claim 3 , wherein the inner tube ( 33 ) has multiple screw holes ( 331 ) defined in the inner tube ( 33 ) to receive the threaded rod ( 313 ) so as to adjust the length of the extension rod ( 30 ) by inserting the threaded rod ( 313 ) into a selected screw hole ( 331 ).  
     
     
         5 . The multi-function exercise machine as claimed in  claim 1 , in which a housing ( 50 ) is mounted on the first base ( 10 ) and has 
 two L-shaped slots ( 51 ) defined in the housing ( 50 ) to movably hold the first end of the swing arms ( 10 ) inside the housing ( 50 ); and    a counter ( 53 ) secured in the housing ( 50 ) to count the number times the swing arms ( 10 ) are pushed or pulled.    
     
     
         6 . The multi-function exercise machine as claimed in  claim 4 , in which a housing ( 50 ) is mounted on the first base ( 10 ) and has 
 two L-shaped slots ( 51 ) defined in the housing ( 50 ) to movably hold the first end of the swing arms ( 10 ) inside the housing ( 50 ); and    a counter ( 53 ) secured on the housing ( 50 ) to count the number of times the swing arms ( 10 ) are pushed or pulled.    
     
     
         7 . The multi-function exercise machine as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein each swing arm ( 10 ) further has a grip ( 13 ) secured on the second end of the swing arm ( 10 ); and 
 a wheel ( 17 ) secured on the second end of each swing arm ( 10 ) to roll on the ground and disperse the weight applied to the swing arm ( 10 ).    
     
     
         8 . The multi-function exercise machine as claimed in  claim 6 , wherein each swing arm ( 10 ) further has a grip ( 13 ) secured on a second end of the swing arm ( 10 ); and 
 a wheel ( 17 ) secured on the second end of the swing arm to roll on the ground and disperse the weight applied to the swing arm ( 10 ).    
     
     
         9 . The multi-function exercise machine as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the first base ( 20 ) has two stop bars ( 23 ) respectively protruding from opposite ends of the first base ( 20 ) to restrict the extent to which the swing arms ( 10 ) can move.

The multi-function exercise machine as claimed in  claim 6 , wherein the first base ( 20 ) has two stop bars ( 23 ) protruding from opposite ends of the first base ( 20 ) and received inside the housing ( 50 ) to restrict the extent to which the swing arms ( 10 ) can move.  
     
     
         11 . The multi-function exercise machine as claimed in  claim 8 , wherein the first base ( 20 ) has two stop bars ( 23 ) respectively protruding from opposite ends of the first base ( 20 ) and received inside the housing ( 50 ) to restrict the extent to which the swing arms ( 10 ) can move.  
     
     
         12 . The multi-function exercise machine as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the reversing elements are springs.  
     
     
         13 . The multi-function exercise machine as claimed in  claim 6 , wherein the reversing elements are springs.  
     
     
         14 . The multi-function exercise machine as claimed in  claim 8 , wherein the reversing elements are springs.  
     
     
         15 . The multi-function exercise machine as claimed in  claim 11 , wherein the reversing elements are springs.  
     
     
         16 . The multi-function exercise machine as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the first base ( 20 ) further has two pivot pins ( 21 ) extending upward from the first base ( 20 ); and 
 each swing arm ( 10 ) has a tube ( 1 ) attached to the first end to sleeve around one of the pivot pins so as to pivotally attach the swing arm ( 10 ) to the first base ( 20 ).    
     
     
         17 . The multi-function exercise machine as claimed in  claim 15 , wherein the first base ( 20 ) further has two pivot pins ( 21 ) extending upward from the first base ( 20 ); and 
 each swing arm ( 10 ) has a tube ( 11 ) attached to the first end to sleeve around one of the pivot pins so as to pivotally attach the swing arm ( 10 ) to the first base ( 20 ).
