Abstract

A suspension fabric for use in seating is described which includes a double jersey knit prepared from shrink yarn and another yarn. A frame cover prepared from the suspension fabric fits easily over the frame, and the suspension fabric is then heated to cause shrinking of the fabric and a tightening of the cover over the frame. The another yarn is preferably an air jet textured microfiber yarn or a false twist yarn.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A seat comprising a seat frame and a suspension fabric cover, the suspension fabric cover comprising: a shrink yarn and another yarn knit into a double jersey construction.

2 . The seat of claim 1 , wherein the another yarn is an air jet textured microfiber yarn.

3 . The seat of claim 1 , wherein the another yarn is a false twist yarn.

4 . A seat including a seat frame and a cover prepared by the process comprising the steps of:
providing a seat frame; placing over the seat frame a heat shrinkable double jersey knit cover prepared from yarns comprising a shrink yarn and another yarn; and heating the combination of the frame and double jersey knit to result in a seat frame covered by a suspension fabric.

5 . The seat of claim 4 , wherein the another yarn is an air jet textured microfiber yarn.

6 . The seat of claim 4 , wherein the another yarn is a false twist yarn.

         7 . A method of preparing a seat comprising:
providing a frame; placing over the frame a cover prepared from a double jersey knit prepared from yarns comprising a shrink yarn and another yarn, the knit covering at least a portion of the frame in a loose manner; heating the combination of the frame and knit; and continuing the heating until the double jersey knit shrinks sufficiently to provide a suspension fabric cover for the frame.

8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the another yarn is an air jet textured microfiber yarn.

9 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the another yarn is a false twist yarn.
