Abstract

A method of covering a flower pot with a floral grouping disposed therein. In the method, a sheet of material with a sheet extension connected to the outer peripheral edge of the sheet of material and extending a distance therefrom is formed about the flower pot to a position wherein the sheet of material extends about substantially the entire outer peripheral surface of the flower pot to provide a decorative covering and the sheet extension is formed about the floral grouping to a position wherein the sheet extension extends about a portion of the floral grouping to provide a protective covering. A portion of the sheet of material is then crimped to form a crimped portion in the sheet of material.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A method for forming a decorative cover about a flower pot, comprising:
 providing a sheet of material, initially provided flat, and having an upper surface, a lower surface- an outer peripheral edge and comprising a plurality reinforcing elements; providing a flower pot having an upper end, a lower end, a bottom, an outer peripheral surface and having a floral grouping disposed therein; disposing the bottom of the flower pot upon a central portion of the upper surface of the sheet of material; I forming the sheet of material about the flower pot to a position wherein the sheet of material extends about the entire outer peripheral surface and bottom of the flower pot; and forming a crimped portion in a portion of the sheet of material having the reinforcing elements after the sheet of material has been formed about the flower pot, and wherein the sheet of material is not formed into a decorative cover having a shape adapted to fit the flower pot until after the sheet of material is formed about the flower pot.

         2 . The method of claim 1 wherein in the step of forming the crimped portion in the sheet of material, the crimped portion extends circumferentially about a portion of the flower pot.

         3 . The method of claim 1 wherein the step of forming the crimped portion is defined further as forming a plurality of overlapping folds in the crimped portion of the sheet of material.

         4 . The method of claim 3 wherein in the step of forming the crimped portion, the crimped portion is located above the upper end of the flower pot.

         5 . The method of claim 1 wherein the step of providing the sheet of material is defined further as comprising:
 providing a roll of material;
 unrolling a portion of the material from the roll of material; and
 separating a portion of the material unrolled from the roll of material to form the sheet of material from the roll of material.

         6 . The method of claim 1 wherein in the step of providing the sheet of material, the sheet of material is provided from a pad containing a plurality of sheets of material.
