Claims
Abstract
A stair device for use in entering and exiting the water from a water vehicle, swim platform or dock. The stair device having an upper tubular portion having two parallel, horizontal tubes, an upper step portion perpendicular to and extending above the horizontal tubes, and a lower tubular section comprised of a single tube having a substantially straight upper portion, a curved portion and a substantially straight lower portion. A quick disconnect bracket having an inner member and an outer member joined by way of a removable pin and a fixed pin onto which a slotted portion is placed.

1 . A stair device comprising:
an upper tubular portion, said upper tubular portion comprised of two tubes substantially identical in shape and parallel to each other, each of said tubes having a substantially vertical upper portion, a curved portion and a substantially horizontal lower portion;
said upper tubular portion further comprising a stop pin mounted between each of said curved portions of each of said tubes;
said upper tubular portion further comprising a horizontal cross brace attached across a top edge of said vertical upper portion of said tubes;
a lower tubular portion comprised of a single tube having a substantially straight upper portion, a curved portion, and a substantially straight lower portion, said upper portion of said lower tubular portion substantially perpendicular to said lower portion of said lower tubular portion;
said lower tubular portion further comprised of a plurality of steps, each of said steps comprised of a substantially flat plate rigidly attached to said lower tubular portion and substantially perpendicular to said lower tubular portion; and
said lower tubular portion pivotally attached to upper tubular portion by means of a stop pin passing through said substantially horizontal lower portion of said tubes of said upper tubular portion, forward of said stop pin, and through said substantially flat upper portion of said lower tubular portion.
2 . The stair device of claim 1 wherein said cross brace comprising:
a substantially rectangular upper step layer;
said upper step layer further comprising a retention portion, said retention portion at said forward edge and comprised of a substantially ovoid depression, said ovoid depression flanked by a right lip portion and a left lip portion, said lip portions extending slightly into said ovoid depression and a right slot portion and a left slot portion disposed on respective sides of said right lip portion and left lip portion, said slot portions substantially rectangular in shape and permitting expansion of said ovoid depression;
a substantially rectangular lower step layer having a forward edge and comprising a substantially ovoid depression at said forward edge
said lower step layer appended to the bottom surface of said upper step layer such that said ovoid depression of said lower step layer aligns substantially with said ovoid depression of said upper step layer.
3 . The stair device of claim 2 wherein said upper step layer of said cross brace is comprised of high density polyethylene.
4 . A stair device comprising:
an upper tubular portion, said upper tubular portion comprised of two tubes substantially identical in shape and parallel to each other, each of said tubes having forward and rearward portions; an additional step portion disposed perpendicular to said upper tubular portion, said additional step portion comprised of two tubes substantially identical in shape and parallel to each other, the first said tube arising from said rearward portion of a first said tube of said upper tubular portion, and the second said tube arising from said rearward portion of a second said tube of said upper tubular portion;
said additional step portion further comprising a substantially rectangular step, said step comprising an upper step layer further comprising a retention portion, said retention portion at said forward edge and comprised of a substantially ovoid depression, said ovoid depression flanked by a right lip portion and a left lip portion, said lip portions extending slightly into said ovoid depression and a right slot portion and a left slot portion disposed on respective sides of said right lip portion and left lip portion, said slot portions substantially rectangular in shape and permitting expansion of said ovoid depression;
a substantially rectangular lower step layer having a forward edge and comprising a substantially ovoid depression at said forward edge
said lower step layer appended to the bottom surface of said upper step layer such that said ovoid depression of said lower step layer aligns substantially with said ovoid depression of said upper step layer.
a lower tubular portion comprised of a single tube having a substantially straight upper portion, a curved portion, and a substantially straight lower portion, said upper portion of said lower tubular portion substantially perpendicular to said lower portion of said lower tubular portion;
said lower tubular portion further comprised of a plurality of steps, each of said steps comprised of a substantially flat plate rigidly attached to said lower tubular portion and substantially perpendicular to said lower tubular portion;
said lower tubular portion pivotally attached to upper tubular portion by means of a pivot pin passing through said tubes of said upper tubular portion and through said substantially flat upper portion of said lower tubular portion; and
a mounting means comprised of two substantially rectangular spacer elements, one of each said spacer elements underlying one of each said tubes of said upper tubular portion;
said mounting means further comprised of a stop pin mounted perpendicular to and across the front edges of said tubes.
5 . A bracket assembly comprising:
an outer member, said outer member having a flat back plate portion, a right forwardly extending side portion, and a left forwardly extending side portion,
said right and left forwardly extending side portions each having upper and lower edges and a first hole placed near said upper edges, a plurality of substantially evenly spaced holes extending upward from said lower edges, and a first pin placed through one of said evenly spaced holes in each of said right and left forwardly extending side portions,
an inner member, said inner member having a flat front plate portion, said flat front plate portion having a narrower width than said flat back plate portion, a right rearwardly extending side portion and a left rearwardly extending side portion,
said right and left rearwardly extending side portions each having upper and lower edges, a plurality of substantially evenly spaced holes extending downward from said upper edge and a slotted opening along said lower edge,
