Abstract

In the beer-making process, the wort is treated with a processing aid which is a composite of Carrageenan and polyvinyl polypyrrolidone (PVPP).

What is claimed is:  
     
         1 . In the beer-making process, the step of upstream beer clarification/stabilizer which comprises treating the wort or beer with Carrageenan and polyvinylpyrrolidone.  
     
     
         2 . A process according to  claim 1  wherein said materials are present in a weight ratio of about 1:10 to 5:10.  
     
     
         3 . A process according to  claim 1  in which said composite is added at a dose rate of about 5-60 g/hl.  
     
     
         4 . A process according to  claim 3  wherein said rate is about 10-15 g/hl.  
     
     
         5 . A processing aid for treating the wort of beer which is a composite of (a) Carrageenan and (b) polyvinyl polypyrrolidone (PVPP), wherein the weight ratio of (a):(b) is about 1:10 to 5:10.  
     
     
         6 . A processing aid according to  claim 5  wherein said ratio is about 3.5:10.
